'Just Give Me a Reason' will be stuck in your head all day

By Pop Spy -- Kat Giantis Feb 6, 2013 8:57AM

Not many pop stars can look lovely while cuddling with a glowing-eyed, oversized teddy bear atop a floating bed, but Pink does exactly that in her new video for "Just Give Me a Reason." In addition to the spooky toy's illuminated peepers, the dreamy vid also features Pink making out with her tattoo-embossed, motocross champ hubby Carey Hart. Turns out the sinewy pair have as much chemistry on-screen as off (read: lots). Also watch for appearances from Nate Ruess of the band fun and Pink's adorably girlish hair bow. Be warned: The song is really catchy, and you may be humming the chorus all day.

PETA finds a new reason to hate on Todd Philips

By Pop Spy -- Jennifer Odell 9 minutes ago
PromotionalAlas, he is also super dead.

"The Hangover Part III" hits theaters this week, and once again, director Todd Philips has succeeded in upsetting PETA.

Whereas previous "Hangover" installations have involved Mike Tyson's tiger, chickens and a Capuchin monkey, the trailer for Part III makes it quite clear that this giraffe gets into a fatal altercation with a highway overpass.

And that's just one of PETA's issues with the flick. Speaking to Radar, a rep for the group bemoaned the movie's use of violence against animals -- including a rooster and some dogs -- for the sake of comedy:

"We regret that unlike most Hollywood directors, [Hangover 3 director] Todd Philips remains insensitive to what animals are put through to make a film, and that despite evidence given to him about the abuse and stress inherent in training wild animals such as giraffes, monkeys and tigers, he is still including them in his movies."
While Radar notes that the decapitated giraffe was computer-generated, PETA maintains that a real giraffe was filmed in the studio. And it seems sound stages are bad for a giraffe's anxiety level.

"Phillips filmed a real giraffe in the studio to create the character, an entirely unnecessary stressor for the giraffe, given what is now possible with CGI. Giraffes are extremely delicate creatures who are easily upset and become nervous in surroundings that are unfamiliar and therefore frightening to them."
Probably worth noting that the characters in Philips' movie don't exactly condone kindness toward humans either, a fact that prompts Alan (Zach Galifianakis) to complain to Mr. Chow (Ken Jeong) that, "when we get together, bad things happen and people get hurt."

"Yeah, that's the point," snipes Chow. "It's funny."

Even God gets tired sometimes ...

By Pop Spy -- Kat Giantis 3 hours ago
Next week, Morgan Freeman turns 76, so he's more than earned the right to a nap every now and then. Unfortunately, he grabbed a few winks on Wednesday during an early-morning on-air interview with Seattle's FOX News affiliate Q13. The heavy-lidded actor was being interviewed alongside Michael Caine about their forthcoming magicians-as-bankrobbers film "Now You See Me," but the conversation apparently wasn't all that scintillating. As the anchors gushed about the flick, the erstwhile white-suited Lord from "Bruce Almighty" couldn't stop his head from drooping onto his chest. Luckily, the loquacious Caine kept the interview moving along. Still, the British thespian was more than ready to wrap up the promotional portion of his day. At the end of the chat, Caine asked someone off-camera, "Is this the last one?" Watch the full interview below ...
So tired ...

But when he's awake, he's divine ...

J.J. Abrams shares deleted 'Star Trek Into Darkness' scene

By Pop Spy -- Jennifer Odell 5 hours ago
In the name of equal opportunity on-screen skin time, J.J. Abrams showed Wednesday's "Conan" viewers a deleted scene from "Star Trek Into Darkness" in which Benedict Cumberbatch strips down and cleans up in the shower.

It was Abrams' way of making things right after critics slammed him for including a scene in which actress Alice Eve appears in her undies -- seemingly, for no plot-related reason.

"I don't think I quite edited the scene in the right way," Abrams admitted.

Noting that it was intended to be  "sort of a balance" or "trade-off" for when Chris Pine appeared shirtless as Captain Kirk, Abrams conceded that, "some people felt like it was exploiting her, and while she is lovely, I can also see their point of view."

He proceeded to share the deleted clip. When Conan suggested that Cumberbatch's nefarious character "doesn't seem to be enjoying the shower very much," Abrams offered: "No, that was a shower of evil."

Birdman welcomes heiress to 'the family'

By Pop Spy -- Jennifer Odell 22 hours ago
Warning: This is happening again ...

Complex... and Lil Wayne may be partially to blame.

While attending Cannes because of her peripheral "role" in Sofia Coppola's "The Bling Ring" -- certain segments were filmed at her house -- Paris Hilton told Showbiz411 that she has a new album coming out this summer. The lucky label? Cash Money Records.

In fact, as the Huffington Post notes, it sounds like the disc may actually be coming out on Weezy's Cash Money imprint, Young Money Entertainment: both Weezy and Nicki Minaj are apparently involved. (Paris and Wayne also collaborated on "Last Night," back in November.)

"This is a lot different than my first album," Paris said, referring to her eponymous, not sorta-not-terribly received 2006 foray into pop. "It's really going to be house music."

DJ Afrojack is reportedly producing the masterpiece. And with any luck, that means better beats will replace some of the inane, stream-of-consciousness club-speak that appeared on her 2012 music video, "Drunk Text."

Cash Money exec Birdman tweeted a confirmation of the news on Wednesday, writing, "Welcome@ParisHilton to tha Family.RichgangRichgirl.YMCMB."

A release date has yet to be issued, but those of you planning to vacation-rave in Ibiza this summer will have the opportunity to enjoy some pre-release heiress rawk while you're there: Paris says she has a DJ residency on Spain's famously electronica-filled party island.

On the other hand, maybe watch this little slice of amazing before you book that flight ...
And, lest we forget ...

A round-up of Mitch Hurwitz's best advice for Sunday ...

By Pop Spy -- Jennifer Odell 24 hours ago
We're just days away from a new blitz of never-nudes, illusions and martini-drowned mother-daughter bonding sessions. But before you hunker down for eight and a half hours of Bluth dysfunction at 12:01 a.m. PT on Sunday, show creator Mitch Hurwitz has some pro tips he'd like you to keep in mind:

1.) For the love of GOB, watch the shows in order.

Hurwitz tweeted something to this effect shortly after locking the last episode a few days ago:

"I pretty quickly realized everything here is about the order of telling the stories, that there will be shows where you find out a little bit of information and then later shows where you revisit the scene and you find out more information — and that's not fun in reverse," Hurwitz tells Vulture.

2.) Yes, it all fits together, but all Bluth and no life makes you a dull viewer:

FOX"Don't feel obligated to watch it all at once. It's a comedy! It's not like 'Lord of the Rings.' Comedy takes a lot out of you," our fearless leader tells Vulture.

He elaborates on Time.com: "I really very quickly stopped making this as shows and started making it as an eight-and-a-half hour 'Arrested Development.' My recommendation would be to sort of take it as a whole. But my other recommendation would be that people don't feel compelled to watch it all at once."

3.) A differently formatted show allows a different focus. Bluth family jewels, for instance:

"I would say the chief way in which it's not like the old series is we are not frantically jumping from character to character which did create a wonderful rhythm and charm in the old series," he tells Time, referring to the original 20 minute, 45 second-long TV episodes. "You never had time to get tired of anybody, you know, because as soon as GOB had done a magic trick, you were on to Tobias taking a picture of his testicles with his camera in the bathtub. And this show would more be about the other elements of that bath. How did his testicles react to the cold air when he got out of the tub, for instance?"

4.) Expect as much out of Season 4 as you might expect of a meal cooked by Lindsay Bluth Funke:

"... Anything we can do to lower expectations would just be fantastic," Hurwitz tells Time. "In fact, if I had one quote to offer it would be, 'Don't make a big deal about it.'"

FOXOK, Mitch, we have a deal -- as long as you don't let Lindsay make "hot ham water" ever again ...
