Film critic calls Melissa McCarthy 'a female hippo' and 'tractor-sized'

Hey, did you know Rex Reed still reviews films? Us, either! But he does, and boy, the veteran critic for the New York Observer really didn't like the new Melissa McCarthy-Jason Bateman comedy "Identity Thief." He didn't like it so much that he launched a personal attack on the leading lady. In particular, Reed had a problem with the actress's zaftig figure. While eviscerating the movie, the critic also tore into McCarthy, calling her, among other unkind and unwarranted insults, "tractor-sized," "humongous" and "a female hippo." Reed finished by dismissing the Emmy-winning funny lady, who earned our admiration during her long run as the lovable Sookie on "Gilmore Girls," as "a gimmick comedian who has devoted her short career to being obese and obnoxious with equal success." The critic is an jerk !!! I love this girls acting. I don't care if she's a size 0 or 20 she's funny in her movies and on Mike & Molly. I guess when your on top of your game there's always someone there to try and knock them off their game !! Hey Rex how many Emmy awards do you have on your shelf ???
Why do the idiots that control the media even use this as a story? Come on have some responsibility about the things you write in stories.
You know enough to stop publishing stories about disparaging remarks made by some ignorant has been that really never was! I LOVE Melissa and the acting roles in which she has performed. Reed is washed up and washed out and if the media has one bit of credence they will STOP relaying the pontifications of these types of people!
If I could reach through the internet I would slap both of you Reed and the writer of this article and say Shame On You! Yea, I might go to jail for assault but they would still be slapped!

Yes it is what it is, she is obese but obviously that is all this critic sees. I loved her in Bridesmaids and she will be funny as hell in Identity Theif I am sure. God did not create all people to look alike. Do people not think she knows she is overweight? I used to be and its the first thing on your mind everyday. I myself decided to do something about it although I was not obese like her. I imagine she is comfortable in her skin, if not she will do somethng about it.
