Watch Alabama Shakes rock 'SNL'

The band performs 'Hold On' and "Always Alright'

Alabama Shakes completed their rise to stardom this weekend with a memorably rockin' turn as the musical guest on "Saturday Night Live." The Grammy-nominated band performed two songs: the bluesy and oh-so-hummable "Hold On," the first track off their debut album, "Boys & Girls," and the rockabilly-infused ditty "Always Alright," which featured whisky-voiced frontwoman Brittany Howard wailing both on vocals and her Gibson guitar. Watch them blow the doors off "SNL" below ...

I'm usually asleep in bed or on the couch after the "Live from New York.."  Last Saturday for some reason I wasn't--Christoph Waltz?--and caught The AL Shakes. Terrific band, deep American musical roots, kick **** front woman, tight band and overall great musicianship. Remind me of the Mississippi All Stars. I'm a huge fan.

Now that is real music. Not the crap that so many like Bieber, Swift, Perry, Rhiahnah and so many more are dropping. Kind of reminded me a bit of Amy Whinehouse. Hope they don't go down that road. This band has a real future.

Very good vocals, not unique, but I think she is really cool. However the band is below average. The neighbors’ kids rock harder in their garage next door. Get a better drummer, that boy is holing ya’ll back.
