The band performs 'Hold On' and "Always Alright'

Alabama Shakes completed their rise to stardom this weekend with a memorably rockin' turn as the musical guest on "Saturday Night Live." The Grammy-nominated band performed two songs: the bluesy and oh-so-hummable "Hold On," the first track off their debut album, "Boys & Girls," and the rockabilly-infused ditty "Always Alright," which featured whisky-voiced frontwoman Brittany Howard wailing both on vocals and her Gibson guitar. I'm usually asleep in bed or on the couch after the "Live from New York.." Last Saturday for some reason I wasn't--Christoph Waltz?--and caught The AL Shakes. Terrific band, deep American musical roots, kick **** front woman, tight band and overall great musicianship. Remind me of the Mississippi All Stars. I'm a huge fan.
