Erin Andrews: Awkward kiss with 50 Cent was 'my fault'

She says it was simply a coordination problem

By Pop Spy -- Kat Giantis Mar 7, 2013 2:27PM

Late last month, sports reporter Erin Andrews was on the hunt for Danica Patrick at the Daytona 500 when she crossed paths with 50 Cent, who promptly puckered up in greeting. Her on-air reaction, which consisted of a double cheek dodge and a hasty retreat, had the Interwebs buzzing over whether she had dissed him. She insists that wasn't the case.

"He's the best," she assures "Access Hollywood." "I mean, come on."

So, what happened?

"It was my fault. I was rushed," explains Andrews, who says her interview plans were waylaid when the drivers all went for a final restroom stop before the four-hour race. She spotted 50 and was relieved to have a way to fill some airtime. But she was apparently unprepared for his peck hello.

"I went one way, he went the other," she tells "Extra." "They're screaming in my ear, 'Danica! Danica! Go get Danica!' I whipped my neck. I made him look bad. But he's my partner in the energy drink [SK Energy], and we all know what 50 did with Vitamin Water, and I hope this does just as well."

I wouldn't apologize he shouldn't put her in an awkward situation in the first place. If you or I tried to kiss her like that we would have gone straight to jail.

I happen to think she's telling the truth. I didn't think anything of it when I first saw the segment live. It just got blown way out of proportion. It's a nonstory.

Just remember not everyone has bad taste like the Kardashians. Give Erin some respect.

Jeezzzz, she was in a hurry, he tried and it didn't work, no harm, no foul. What in the world is the problem. Enough of this trivial pursuit.

APOLOGIZE----HOW IGNORANT OR A FORCED ISSUE FROM HER BOSSES !!   Anyone who would believe/condone this is brain dead !!  All 50 wanted was to get her in one of the race car haulers and tap a little white 'short row' !!  Where are people's brains or morals ??  If a regular type fan had tried this, he would be in jail !!!

To apologize makes Andrews look like an 'easy beyouch' !!!

Why do some people think that it is Ok to walk up a plant a kiss on someone they don't know. If I'd have seen that plunger coming at me I would have turned my head  too.

For crying out loud!  So she didn't want to end up with a Joe Nameth moment! Good for her.  Anybody out there want to get slobbered by whoever and whenever?  You did right Miss Andrews.

It sounds like that you HAVE to let someone kiss you, even if you don't want them to. If she did not want to be kissed, that should be up to her. I don't remember that you have to let everybody kiss you and at a sporting event. How many other people have done that to her. I don't remember anybody else running up to her and trying to kiss her like that. Just what gives you the right to do that. I am sure that it was an awkward moment, But everybody thinks it was awkward for the guy not the woman.Besides he was going for the lips not the cheek. You just DON"T do that in public. As I see it , it should be the guy that needs to apologize for putting her in that awkward moment.

This is really a non-issue and a waste of internet coverage.  As she stated in her apology they are business partners and he caught her at an inopportune moment when she was receiving directions from her on site director.

Being business partners it was polite gesture to offer an apology not something forced!  It's really sad that people use the internet to spout hate rather than what it was meant to be.  A tool for learning and communication.
I do agree that he shouldn't have followed her, once that awkward moment was over he should have just let her go!  That was the one act that made it look kind of strange.

I think I just threw up in my mouth AGAIN. The first time was when I had to watch that no class, no talent thug try to put his nasty lips all over Erin Andrews and now because her B.S. apology is so incredibly unbelievable it is mind numbing. It is clearly obvious to any with eyes and ears that watched this clip she wanted nothing to do with him, hell she was in a sprint trying to get away from him.

This always seemed like the media was trying to make something out of nothing on this one.  It just looked like a coordination issue.  But I suppose "Erin Andrews disses 50 Cent" is a more exciting 'news' story.  I love Erin and it doesn't seem like there's a story here, other than "where do the noses go."

The woman was ON DUTY. She was AT WORK, DOING HER JOB. The camera was rolling and she was in a hurry. TWO things he wanted; to be on live nationwide TV, AND kiss a beautiful white woman on the lips. The RACISM comes from HIM, not US.  It was an IN YOUR FACE moment for him.

It was typical thug reaction to a pretty white woman. Imposing himself on her rather than treating her with respect. It was the perfect place to piss off a bunch of southern white men. What she should not have done was comment about being a fan of his.

One of the rules I was taught when growing up: never say your sorry. It's a sign of weakness.

If he was attempting to kiss her on the cheek, that would be fine and acceptable. Kissing a woman on the cheek, even at a first meeting is polite. But going for her lips, not okay, unless she wants it.

What makes this egotistical pompous brat "50 Cent" think he has the right to invade any woman's personal space?  Entitlement? Arrogance? Boastfulness?

How about simply he is a jerk?
