Could Anne Hathaway hit Broadway With Colin Firth in 'My Fair Lady'?
And would it be loverly?
It's been quite a week for Clive Davis, what with revealing his bisexuality and touching off a feud with Kelly Clarkson. Now, the 80-year-old music exec is laying the groundwork for his "dream project": a Broadway revival of "My Fair Lady" with Anne Hathaway as Cockney flower girl Eliza Doolittle and Colin Firth as makeover-loving confirmed bachelor Henry Higgins. The stars were previously mentioned as possibilities for a big-screen remake of the Audrey Hepburn-Rex Reed musical classic, but the project fizzled, which apparently cleared the way for the stage rights. Clive boasts that his dream of casting Hathaway "preceded her triumph" in "Les Miserables," for which she's expected to collect a Best Support Actress Oscar on Sunday with a shocked face and an overwrought acceptance speech. But what do you think of her endlessly repeating "the rain in Spain falls mainly on the plain?" with a British accent? Are we the only ones who think a Fantine-Mr. Darcy combo might be kinda good? Tell us in the comments …

'Rex Reed'????? Yikes!!! Doesn't anyone proofread anymore?? That's too funny to think of Rex Reed as Henry Higgins!!! LOL I think Anne and Colin would be perfect for a Broadway revival of MFL. And Colin wouldn't have to 'talk-sing' his songs. But...would any of them want to do 8 shows a week for several months??
Alex Gil (1 hour ago)- 'Anne not pretty enough to play the part' ?? WHAT??? Do you think Julie Andrews was 'prettier' when she played Eliza on Broadway so many years ago? The actress playing Eliza doesn't HAVE to be 'drop-dead' gorgeous. Just someone who can pull off a 'makeover'. I think Anne proved that many times over by looking amazing everytime she walked a red carpet after appearing in Les Miserables.Audrey was an amazing Eliza; one of my favorite roles in one of my favorite movies.
As for pulling off an English accent--Audrey Hepburn did it and she's not British! Meryl Streep has used many different accents in several of her roles-and believably, too!
