It's been quite a week for Clive Davis, what with revealing his bisexuality and touching off a feud with Kelly Clarkson. Now, the 80-year-old music exec is laying the groundwork for his "dream project": a Broadway revival of "My Fair Lady" with Anne Hathaway as Cockney flower girl Eliza Doolittle and Colin Firth as makeover-loving confirmed bachelor Henry Higgins. The stars were previously mentioned as possibilities for a big-screen remake of the Audrey Hepburn-Rex Reed musical classic, but the project fizzled, which apparently cleared the way for the stage rights. Clive boasts that his dream of casting Hathaway "preceded her triumph" in "Les Miserables," for which she's expected to collect a Best Support Actress Oscar on Sunday with a shocked face and an overwrought acceptance speech. But what do you think of her endlessly repeating "the rain in Spain falls mainly on the plain?" with a British accent? Are we the only ones who think a Fantine-Mr. Darcy combo might be kinda good? Tell us in the comments …

I would love to see these two pair up for a remake of My Fair Lady.  No one will ever compare to Audrey Hepburn or Rex Harrison in those characters, but I would be very interested to see what Firth and Hathaway bring to the characters of Eliza and Higgins.

'Rex Reed'????? Yikes!!!  Doesn't anyone proofread anymore?? That's too funny to think of Rex Reed as Henry Higgins!!! LOL  I think Anne and Colin would be perfect for a Broadway revival of MFL. And Colin wouldn't have to 'talk-sing' his songs. But...would any of them want to do 8 shows a week for several months??

Alex Gil (1 hour ago)- 'Anne not pretty enough to play the part' ?? WHAT???  Do you think Julie Andrews was 'prettier' when she played Eliza on Broadway so many years ago? The actress playing Eliza doesn't HAVE to be 'drop-dead' gorgeous. Just someone who can pull off a 'makeover'. I  think Anne proved that many times over by looking amazing everytime she walked a red carpet after appearing in Les Miserables.Audrey was an amazing Eliza; one of my favorite roles in one of my favorite movies.

As for pulling off an English accent--Audrey Hepburn did it and she's not British! Meryl Streep has used many different accents in several of her roles-and believably, too!

For God's sake!  Doesn't Hollywood have any original ideas????  Who wants to see Anne Hathaway in another musical?

By the way not a good match for either the male or female role.

I think this actress is ok at best. I do not believe all the hype around her. I think a good publist can work wonders and a agent who really gets the roles for her is smart. All in all, she may get the part but i do not think it would be the best choice. I would not watch it.

Oh, pleeezzzeee! Allow G.B. Shaw to rest in peace and DO NOT do another "My Fair Lady." The generation that can appreciate that re-do of the ancient Pygmalion and Galatea myth is not likely to flock to theaters to see yet another version of the musical play, based on a play ("Pygmalion," by Shaw, which also became a terrific film with Leslie Howard and Wendy Hiller) based on the Greek myth ... and those younger than, say, 40, are unlikely to appreciate the relatively dull social commentary that play makes (of a culture that existed in another country, in another era). And Colin Firth -- as much as I love him -- simply can not fill Rex Harrison's shoes. Simply because Anne Hathaway looks a bit like Audrey Hepburn does not mean she has the enormous star-power and appeal Hepburn had, which enabled her to shine as Eliza, even though she could barely dance (though she was very graceful) and had her own not-bad-but limited singing voice dubbed by the incomparable Marni Nixon. Besides, Julie Andrews should have been Eliza in that film, as she had made the Broadway musical a smash ... but Julie Andrews instead won the Oscar (over Hepburn) for "Mary Poppins," so she had the last laugh. Hey, maybe we could use a remake of "Mary Poppins," with Anne Hathaway ... and Colin Firth as Bert. That way, Colin can frolic, and I'd pay money to see that!

Audrey Hepburn was beautiful and a star, Anne Hathaway is average in everything she does even if she wins the Oscar, she is not pretty enough to play  the part.
