According to a report posted today (February 15), Harrison Ford is very close to returning as Han Solo in "Star Wars: Episode VII."

Ever since Disney bought LucasFilm late last year and announced that a new series of "Star Wars" movies would go into production, rumors have been flying about whether any of the original cast would appear, with reports circulating that Ford, Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker) and Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia) had all had at least some discussions about the project with George Lucas.

Now the folks at Latino Review -- who are known for their scoops (they first revealed that Thanos would appear at the end of "The Avengers," for instance) -- have reported that Ford will in fact reprise his iconic role as the Corellian smuggler in "Episode VII."

There are no details on how large his role in the movie will be -- since the script is not yet finished -- but apparently Ford, director J.J. Abrams, screenwriter Michael Arndt and LucasFilm head Kathleen Kennedy have all agreed that Solo will return. The site calls the news "official" and says that Ford's deal is "done."

Of course, nothing is truly official until it comes out of the press offices of Disney and LucasFilm, but the possibility of Ford participating in the movie has been confirmed by EW's Geoff Boucher. He tweeted, however, that Ford's deal is not done and "will not be for weeks and perhaps months."

Should Harrison Ford sign up for "Star Wars -- Episode VII"? How large a role would you like to see Han Solo play in the new generation of "Star Wars" films?

"Star Wars: Episode VII" is tenatively out in theaters in summer 2015.

Always been a Harrison Ford fan. I wouldn't expect him to be the main character or story line, but Han Solo made Star Wars iv-vi fun. If you think about it, no one else had a sense of humor in the series. He adds charm and humor to something, minus the costumes, visual and special effects..is quite political.

He will be bringing back what made Star Wars so special in the begining :)

As long as they don't cast Shia Labeouf as his son.

As a Star Wars geek, I've read every novel written in the Star Wars universe. In the latest books Han is the same age as Harrison Ford.... and I think they've both still got it! Other than Ford, there isn't an actor alive that can recreate Han Solo's swagger, grin, and charm! If they push the story line out 20 years or more and do the second generation  - Jacen, Jaina, and Anakin Solo and Ben Skywalker that would be amazing. The authors who have been writing Star Wars books for 20 years with the approval of George Lucas have done a great and cohesive job...And Harrison Ford/Han Solo has been my crush since Jr High.... he HAS to be in the movie!

I would be totally elated if Harrison Ford returns in Star Wars: Episode VII along with the original cast....after all the characters have to age, too....that shouldn't stop them....I can't wait to find out whether or not this happens.  I'll be the first in line at the box office to see it!!!

I am curious about the screenplay for episode 7 as the novels clearly cover decades after episode 6 (and then some). I really hope Disney does not rewrite the Stars Wars universe. All the main characters (living at end the end of ep. 6) are involved in the novels. 3 kids for Hans and eventually a nemesis becomes the wife of Luke. Please Disney, do not fix what isn't broken....

Finally, another Star Wars episode.  It would be nice to see the original cast in the new episode.

Looking forward to Harrison Ford again - in Star Wars.  Would like to see him in a big role - BUT it definitely has to be suitable to his age.  He still has it.  Though he is MUCH older than yesterday.

Since it's a continuing saga, unless they were to jump forward in time so far that Han, Leia, and Luke would obviously no longer be around, you have to have their characters.  The studio knows (or better know) that no one will buy a 70 year old Ford as a 50 year old Han Solo...  but if they keep the parts reasonably age appropriate for the actors, what's wrong with it?

so now we know part 7 will be in the future.. han solo is returning..awesome..

theres pretty much no story without luke and leia though...theyre the last jedi that rebuild the order...

so we can assume mark hamill and carrie fisher will return aswell? (edit-- just read the part that says possibly yes to this question.)

oh and by the way..the force is the force..not bacteria in the blood..lets erase that from existence shall we? id buy a new set of star wars on blu-ray if i had the promise that scene was gone forever. not in 3D though.

and please please please do NOT ruin any starwars movies with 3D that sh*t is old..lets not do that anymore.

This is GREAT news, I'd love to see Harrison back as Hans.. I'm curious if they will use any of the Star Wars novels as a kind of leaping off place.. Most of them take place AFTER Return of the Jedi, so it will be interesting to see if they follow any of the plots from these books..

I hate to see what 'Lens Flare Abrams' is going to do to this franchise, but  can it be worse than 'The Phantom Menace'?  Perhaps Mr. Ford can bring some dignity to it.

Harrison Ford is the luckiest actor ever. He gets to reprise roles even 20-30 years after he's already played them. He's had a lifetime of Indiana Jones and Star Wars gigs and is probably a billionaire for it. I hope it's good though as I was disappointed with the Crystal Skull film. Never been a LaBoeuf  fan and thought he was too small in stature to be the son of 6'2" Indiana Jones and grandson of 6'2" Henry Jones played by Sean Connery.

They have to have fresh characters for this generation as well as to pull off another trilogy.  So the children of Solo and Skywalker (who we all have read about already) would fit nicely, they would have the driods inherrited from the parents (another two characters  we know), and the parents could easily pop in or sit in on parts of the story without looking old and out of place saving the galaxy.  I would love to see it pick up at the new jedi order (not sure about Chewie if they should follow that story and...you know if you read it) wut bringing chewie back would also be a must ...As long as they don't go back to Kyshik for Love Day in some holiday special we should all be very entertained.
