Brand new trailer arrives for 'The Host'
Stephenie Meyer sci-fi tale coming to screens next month

A few years back, "Twilight" author Stephenie Meyer took a break from her angst-ridden empire of vampires and werewolves to write a science fiction novel called "The Host." With the film version coming out next month, a new trailer for the movie has been released.
The story takes place on Earth after the bodies of almost all human beings have been taken over by alien invaders and had their memories erased. However, one young woman named Melanie (Saorsie Ronan) struggles to retain her identity and fights against the alien consciousness that's possessing her.
Naturally -- because, after all, this was written by the author of "Twilight" -- Melanie also has to decide between two young male hotties: her lover Jared (Max Irons), and a human resistance fighter named Ian (Jake Abel), who the alien inside Melanie's body begins to develop feelings for as well (grrrrrr....).
The film is directed by Andrew Niccol, who has written and/or directed smart fare in the past like "Gattaca" and "The Truman Show." We haven't read Meyer's book and don't know what Niccol has done with it, but if it's "Twilight" in sci-fi garb we could be in for a bumpy ride. Check out the trailer below, which leans more on action and less on love than previous clips.
"The Host" is out in theaters Friday, March 29.
