Man of steel coming back for mutant reunion

20th Century Fox
"X-Men: Days of Future Past" director Bryan Singer has welcomed the steel-skinned mutant Colossus back into the series.

Singer, who directed the first two "X-Men" movies before stepping away for "X3: The Last Stand" and "X-Men: First Class," tweeted a photo of a wall with cast pictures tacked onto it, revealing a head shot of actor Daniel Cudmore.

Cudmore played Colossus, whose real name is Peter Rasputin, in "X2" and "X3," making only a brief appearance in the former but getting to do some fighting in the latter. As portrayed in the comics and films, Rasputin is one of the strongest and most physically imposing members of the X-Men, even when he doesn't morph into metal.

In the "Days of Future Past" comic book story, Rasputin is married to Kitty Pryde (Ellen Page, also returning from "X3"), who is the crucial character in the tale: the adult Kitty goes back in time to warn her younger self and the X-Men of a disastrous event that will spell doom for all mutants in the future.

Hopefully that means we'll get to see more of Cudmore as Colossus this time around, as the character has always been one of our favorites. He joins the now-massive cast that will unite "First Class" actors with original "X-Men" veterans, including (deep breath) Page, Hugh Jackman, Halle Berry, Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellan, Anna Paquin, Nicholas Hoult, Shawn Ashmore and James McAvoy, with "X-Men" newbie Peter Dinklage as the villain.

Are you glad to see Colossus coming back? Tell us below what you think of how the new "X-Men" movie is shaping up!

"X-Men: Days of Future Past' is out in theaters July 18, 2014.

I can't wait for this to come out. I only wish that the different X-Men movies would have been from the same universe. It is very confusing to people who didn't read the comics that Charles became paralyzed in his twenties in First Class but in Origins he is older and still walking. I feel that if the story line would remain in one universe many more followers would love this franchise. Many people just don't understand or care for the multiple universes of Marvel. This is as bad as when a show would go over the top killing off a major character and then make it out after a whole season that it was a dream.

I'm glad Colossus is going to be back. He is an under used character in the movies. I would like to see Night Crawler back also.

what about nightcrawler, how come he has not been back? I think that he plays a crucial role as well in the franchise films.

What about Apocalypse? He is my all time favorite X-men villian! If you wanna have any chance of this movie competing with The Avengers movies (Thanos!) then you gotta bring out the big guns!

Collossus was oe of my all-time favorite otiginal X-man Characters and it's a shame how they misused him in the past few X-men movie installments. Also, just like with Nightcrawler (another orinal X-men favorite of mine from back when I collected/read the comics as a kid) the "look" of the character is just plain wrong...when Peter Rasputin morphs into Collossus? The character has a banded metal look...not a liquid metal/T-1000 (from terminator) look...which just annoys the crap out of me.

I am hoping that the new X-men movie, now that SInger is back as the Director will be even better thanX-men: First Class (which I enjoyed) and it's going to be interesting to see how both groups are successfull integrated into one, cohesive and very cool movie.

Keeping fingers crossed

The Original X-Men: Cyclops, Marvel Girl, Beast, Angel, IceMan.

The New X-Men:      Cyclops, Storm, Banshee, Wolverine, Night Crawler, Colossus, Sunfire.

After what they did with The Avengers,,, there is no excuse to mess up the X-Men!!??

The X-Men have a better story and if Disney can't get this right after the other X-Men

mess ups ,,,Damn,, except for First Class,,, the other Movies of the X-Men sucked and

was done really really bad,,, did I forget to say Reaalllyyy!!,, Compared to the actual

stories that where told,, In this time and age there just isn't any real reason to mess up

such a master piece that was told by John Burns and Chris Claremont..... Hell fellas get it

right this time????!!!!! The true Marvel Fans are watchING!!!!!!!!!!!!

This movie will be like the rest not a world made by Marvel. Singer, needs to come out hard or go home ( Avengers have raised the bar) he has not won me over in directing a Marvel or a DC world, the movies and characters seems too big for him he makes them look too simple.... and also have anyone notice that the two worse hero movie Wolverine and Superman have been so secretive and letting so little sneak out so close to their release .......they worry about what they have.  Now back to the x-men ....with this director  I'll wait for the dvd.

The addition of Colossus would be excellent. I do wish they will follow the story line a little bit more true this time. I love the X-Men comics and some of my favorite heros are X-Men;however, I didn't like the fact that the movies just threw together a couple of the characters and didn't stay true to the comics. The Days of Future Past is an excellent story and I hope this time around the director stays closer to the comic story than just some made up Hollywood version.
