Who is making the final 'Justice League' roster?

Some DC Comics characters make the cut, others don't

As Warner Bros. Pictures and its subsidiary, DC Entertainment, inch closer to bringing the Justice League to the big screen, word comes that the configuration of the team has been narrowed down to five core members.

Latino Review reported this morning that the long-in-development "Justice League" movie -- the DC Comics equivalent to "The Avengers" -- will feature a lineup that includes Superman, Batman, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman and the Flash. Additional characters that could make cameos in the film include Aquaman, Martian Manhunter and Hawkman.

Part of the rationale for this roster is simply the fact that Superman, Batman and Green Lantern have all been introduced in previous films, although it is unlikely that the Batman in "Justice League" will be the same Caped Crusader from Christopher Nolan's "Dark Knight" trilogy.

A Martian Manhunter appearance might be the most feasible of the rest, since the rumored villain of the movie, Darkseid, is a cosmic threat from outer space.

Although names like Nolan, Ben Affleck and the Wachowskis have been thrown around as potential directors, Warner Bros. has yet to place someone behind the camera for what is expected to be a major tentpole film for the studio.

Likewise, with the probable exception of Henry Cavill as Superman -- since he's playing the role in this summer's "Man of Steel" -- none of the heroes have been cast yet. Joseph Gordon-Levitt recently dismissed talk that he would reprise his role from "The Dark Knight Rises," which ended with his character possibly taking over as Batman from a retired Bruce Wayne.

"Justice League" is tentatively set for release in summer 2015 -- where it will go head-to-head with Marvel's "The Avengers 2."

Still think they should do the way the Avengers did it.  Several smaller one hero movies that introduce the characters and their back story . leading up to the big one.

Aquaman haters need to actually read comic books instead of going on what they've seen in crappy cartoons. He survives at the freezing bottom of the ocean like it's nothing. He could tear Batman's arms off and fist the Dark Knight with them.

I think Aquaman qould be cool as long as they stick to the comic version and not the Superfriends version.  Cause, seriously, Aquaman is no push over.  And keep show how he lost his hand.

If they're gonna fight Darkseid, then they need all the strongest character for this galactic threat! They should have Superman, non-powered Batman-- b/c he's so popular, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, the Martian Manhunter, The Flash, and the half-robot guy-- who's name I forgot.

Also, the Justice League will not be a theatrical threat to The Avengers. Since the Marvel characters have already been well-introduced, and with their next movie having the Marvel-equivilent of DC's Darkseid character in Thanos, as the bad guy!

It will seem like two similiar movies competing the same time. My money will always be on The Avengers.

   Bring it on...!!

For us "older" comic fans who never had a chance to grow up with with the technology of today... may I say  AWESOME!!!  As long as this is done to the same level as Most of Marvels Movies this is going to be the best Summer (2015)  The excitement is beyond words, while agree it would be nice to have seperate intros for Wonder Woman and Flash Hopefully Aquaman, I dont think it is necessary. CANT WAIT!!

Darkseid should be in Justice League 2. The first movie should be the Justice League verses the Legion of Doom with Lex Luther heading the evil team. In the second movie against the powerful Darkseid, the JL and LoD have to set aside their differences and fight Darkseid as a combined front to save the world after all the LoD wants to control the world and not die under the onslaught of Darkseid.

In order to have a Justice League movie you have to have other movies made to warrant  a league movie, and since the Batman Franchise has been the best so far, I would find it difficult to see success in this movie. Green Lantern sucked, The last Superman movie crashed and burned, and with Man of Steel the jury is still out, Their hasn't been a Wonder Woman or Flash film yet, so a Justice League at this point is kind of mute. This is just an attempt by Warner Bros. to jump on the success of Marvel Studious which has done so much better in this market...

No Aquaman?  What the hell.  He is the best member.  The one most like regular people.  His powers are much bigger than the average person knows.   His skin is super durable (pretty much bullet resistant) due to the density of living at the bottom of the ocean, he can see in the dark, he can communicate with all aquatic life forms (which is much cooler than people thing), he can swim at super sonic speeds (which means on land he can also move pretty damn fast), he is extremely strong (3rd or 4th on the team behind Supes, WW, and possibly MM).   In other words he is a bad ****

And for the record, Superman and Batman were NOT founding members.  They were the Flash, Martian Manhunter, Aquaman, Black Canary, and Green Lanterns.  Supes and Bats did not join till later and did not play a major role on the team until much later.

The DC "equivalent to 'The Avengers'"? Sorry, no such thing. But, I am looking forward to "Man of Steel", since Super man is my favorite DC hero.

Wonder Woman in, from the drawing above, what looks like leotard type pants or capri pants outfit? A Batman who isn't Bruce Wayne? I realize comic books, like science fiction fights over the various Star Trek and Star Wars versions are a matter of individual taste but I stopped reading them many, many years ago because in moving toward greater realism they moved away from their escapist entertainment origins. An alcoholic Ironman? A Batgirl paralyzed by the Joker's bullet or Black Canary raped? A Green Lantern going insane and Superman dieing or different legions of Batmen, Spidermen, Supermen etc. I realize storylines must progress but this isn't a television show, this is the comic book world. Just because the Archie comics are 30 years old or whatever doesn't mean Archie should be a middle aged dad with a mortgage and on his second or third marriage. Nor should being more realistic mean making the stories and characters more like a graphic novel. And just as bad is the trend in super hero comic art to make the DC and Marvel characters suddenly resemble the flat Japanese Hello Kitty, etc. animation. It makes Superman or Wonder Woman look like they're in junior high school.

Poor Aquaman is being left alone in his ocean yet again.  They should make a movie about Aquaman taking on the people destroying the oceans while all the Envirotards scream about CO2 and it's minimal effects.

Justice League has no shot against The Avengers. The Batman movies were overrrated, the Wonder Woman movie never made it to theatres, The Green Lantern was terrible, and that newer version of Superman was an unintentional comedy. Ironman 1 & 2 were very good, Captain America was very good, Thor was ok, and The Avengers was classic. I'm sorry, but the tone has already been set.

At the end of DKR, didn't Alfred see Bruce and Selina dining at an outdoor cafe?  Was that just a dream sequence, or did Batman somehow survive the nuclear explosion?  If he did survive, perhaps it was Superman who, unbeknownst to us, arrived to snatch him from the cockpit.  Superman might have been "unavailable" for a variety of reasons during the first two movies.  That would allow Batman and Superman to exist in Nolan's world.  Bruce was ready to retire anyway, so this scenario would set the stage for someone else to take-on the role of Batman.

It's going to be hard to look at another person playing Batman if Christian Bale isn't playing him.  Why would they do something like that?

Batman, Superman,Wonder Woman,Aqua man, Flash,  are the mainstay for Justice league and always have been as long as DC has made the comics and cartoons. Lex Luger superman's arch enemy had always been the forefront of all evil plots employing a vast array of cromnal minds or for those who act on their own lex would try to use that to his advantage creating a conflict on multiple fronts because his power was not super but of great intelligence and ingenuity. The Green lantern, The martian Manhunter are both part of the original Justice League.
A fact about the justice league is Batman and Superman were not often included in the comic books, and the focus was on Aqua-man, Wonder woman, Martian Man hunter, Green Lantern and The Flash.
Through various encounters and such the Green arrow and Hawk-Man joined the group.

Later in the years around late 60s or early 70's the Justice league of ameroca moved  Headquarters to a Floating orbital satellite and added to their ranks ( elongated man, red tornado, hawk woman, firestorm and the atom)
