Let's Get Presidential With First Poster from 'Lincoln'
Hat-free!

We've yet to see even a second of video from Steven Spielberg's "Lincoln," but the film is already an awards season favorite based strictly on its tremendous pedigree. After all, what more do we need to know beyond that it's Spielberg directing Daniel Day-Lewis in a film about America's (arguably) most beloved president? Apparently, DreamWorks thinks just about the exact same thing, as the film's first official poster doesn't give us any more to go on beyond a simple black and white picture of Day-Lewis as Lincoln, and text telling us "yup, that's Daniel Day-Lewis and, yup, this is about Abraham Lincoln and, sure, you can see it in November!" Jeez, guys, any chance for something a bit more meaty? Or at least a big hat?
Based (in part) on the book "Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln" by Doris Kearns Goodwin, the film centers on Lincoln's final days in office (and on this earth), with the Civil War on the verge of completing and irrevocably destroying the country.
The film also stars Sally Field, David Strathairn, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, James Spader, Lee Pace, Jackie Earle Haley, John Hawkes, Hal Holbrook, Tommy Lee Jones, and a host of other talents. "Lincoln" opens in limited theaters on November 9 before expanding on November 16.
