Amanda Seyfried Transforms in First Poster for 'Lovelace'

Film is based on Eric Danville's bio 'The Complete Linda Lovelace'

For awhile there, it looked like cinephiles and history buffs alike would be gifted with two different films that focused on the life of porn-star-turned-feminist-crusader Linda Lovelace, but as is often the case in these situations, one feature has come out so far ahead that it appears the other may never get made.

Emerging likely victorious is Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman's "Lovelace." Whereas the other Lovelace project, "Inferno," has yet to even get made (that's the one that would have starred Malin Akerman), the "Howl" filmmakers already have a completed film to sell at this year's Cannes Film Festival.

This one stars Amanda Seyfried as Lovelace, with a compelling supporting cast that includes Peter Sarsgaard, Sharon Stone, Juno Temple, Wes Bentley, Hank Azaria, Bobby Cannavale, Chris Noth, Robert Patrick, James Franco, Eric Roberts, Adam Brody, Chloe Sevigny, and Sarah Jessica Parker. The film is specifically based on Eric Danville's biography "The Complete Linda Lovelace," and it "follows Linda Boreman's rise to fame as iconic porn star Linda Lovelace of 1972's 'Deep Throat,' and her subsequent transformation into feminist, anti-porn activist Linda Marchiano." Lovelace's story is specifically "told through the perspective of three interviewers at various stages of her life." The role will likely be a transformative one for Seyfried, and the film's first poster (released this week) shows just how much she's been able to disappear into the role.

"Lovelace" does not currently have a release date, but this poster is marked as a piece of sales art for the upcoming Cannes Film Festival, will the film will likely sell to a distributor who will release it soon enough. Check out a larger version of the poster (thanks to Latino Review and ComingSoon) after the break.

@ the dude67111,
What an unprovoked and hate-filled thing to say.
But anyway, I hope this movie doesn't glorify pornography in any way.

She's too squeaky clean to play a porn star plus, she way more beautiful than Lovelace.

You picked the wrong woman. This woman is much too pretty to play Linda Lovelace.  You should have picked Lindsay Lohan for the role. That would have been much closer to the truth both in looks and acting ability.

This is a terrible career move for her. I hope it doesn't come back to haunt her like Showgirls did to Elizabeth Berkley. I thought that she was too classy to do something like this.

Number of morons in this thread who believe this is about looks.  I agree that this woman is not the right fit because she doesn't have the acting chops.  Lovelace's story was one of horrible abuse.  Read the book Ordeal.  People missing all kinds of points.

Linda Lovelace was never pretty.  I don't even think she was attractive.  I read an interview with one the producers or writers and this individual said she had the one "skill" that got her the part.  In case you're wondering, the "skill" coincides with the title of the movie.  That was all that mattered.

I can hardly remember what LL looked like, but I'm pretty sure she never looked nearly as hot as Seyfried does on that poster.

Does Sarsgaard play her want to be father just as in Mama Mia? I guess she has grown up but I'm not certain this is a roll I will enjoy watching her play,

Amanda is too pretty to be Linda Boreman.  Boreman was very damaged goods, probably bi-polar since her erratic behavior and ability to change her stories, loyalties and affiliations at the drop of a hat mirror those of an ex-wife who was bi-polar and at one time into freaky sex up to and including BDSM and bestiality.  Linda Lovelace was a tragedy waiting to happen, you know, the kind with the words "Use Me" indeliably written on her forehead, and visible to everyone who has a knack for manipulating and exploiting people.

That includes the anti-porn crusaders too.  Unlike Ted Bundy, who used his final interview to manipulate crackpot Dobbson and to blame his sadistic murders on porn, Lovelace wasn't smart enough to be the manipulator.  She was shamelessly manipulated by Dworkin and Mackinnon, used and thrown away just like the pornographers did.  Both of those feminists are pigs one dead, the other hopefully will be soon.  They were self promoting men haters and used Linda, who they no doubt held in utter contempt, to further their own agendas.  It will be interesting to see how Hollywood portrays someone who they considered the lowest of the low at the time.  Now that they can make a buck off of her they will no doubt portray her as some tragic but noble woman who found redemption in the end.  I wonder if they will include her  many contradicting accounts and statements and those of her co-stars and contemporaries that contradict her claims.  She did say she felt used by the anti-pron movement; one of the few statements that she made that was believable.

Linda Lovelace was an attractive woman, in a natural-looking way. However, it's difficult to find top-drawer female stars who currently look (or WANT to look) like that. I think it's fine that Lovelace's image is glamorized in this poster. After all, you can't really get away from Hollywood over-glamourizing practically EVERYTHING. So, par for the course...

First of all, if LInda had been that good looking she'd probably still be a star. Second she ended up posing again for magazines after her anti porn rant, and third..

Who is going to play Duke The Wonder Dog?

Linda certainly did not have that beautiful long wavy hair like Amanda in the poster .  Linda had a mid-length afro with tight curls like many sported back in those days.....................

Linda Lovelace at her best was not even in Amanda Seyfried's league. Who is going to go see this movie I wonder? A movie about a long forgotten porn actress. sounds like a hoot.

Who ever elevated Linda Lovelace to porn star "Icon" status?  There are many dozens of other porn stars who are more well know and famous, plus most of them made more than 'ONE' movie.
