Set Photos Reveal Brand New 'RoboCop' Suit
Wait, it's black!

The remake train chugs on with Jose Padilha's take on 1987's "RoboCop." This time around, "the year is 2028 and multinational conglomerate OmniCorp is at the center of robot technology. Their drones are winning American wars around the globe and now they want to bring this technology to the home front. Alex Murphy (Joel Kinnaman) is a loving husband, father and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit. After he is critically injured in the line of duty, OmniCorp utilizes their remarkable science of robotics to save Alex's life. He returns to the streets of his beloved city with amazing new abilities, but with issues a regular man has never had to face before." 
So ... it's "RoboCop." But with a new cast! And, per our first look at the film, with a brand new suit. For Padilha's film, it looks like the new suit (to the left) has done away with the shiny metallics of the original suit (to the right) and has gone with a look more reminiscent of the Batman suit in "The Dark Knight" series. It certainly looks much easier to move in, and it will be interesting to see just how much of that translates to the final film.

The film also stars Gary Oldman, Michael Keaton, Samuel L. Jackson, Abbie Cornish, Jackie Earle Haley, Michael K. Williams, Jay Baruchel, Jennifer Ehle, and Marianne Jean-Baptiste so, at the very least, it will have a wonderful stable of acting talent to pull from.

People keep calling this a 'suit', and if indeed it was just a suit, then yes, the new look makes more sense for urban warfare. But...
It is NOT a suit! People, you keep forgetting the most important thing - Robocop is a cyborg, he is not wearing a suit! That's his body, which is mainly robotic!
That is why this new look doesn't make any sense. The new Robocop looks just like a human wearing armor, and not as the machine he is supposed to be, and that's why this new look is a total FAIL.

I just watched the original again on cable this weekend. This remake won't even come close. Never could. The suit actually looks somehow less futuristic then the one from 20 years ago. A remake was a bad idea- a sequel of some bizarre plot where the original is returned to duty after being shut off for years- would have been better. The franchise lives and dies with the cool factor of the suit itself; this one falls way short. Are you listening studio? GO BACK TO THE DRAWING BOARD AND SPEND THE MONEY NOW- or lose it on ticket sales later. CHEESY.
