Oscars 2013: Dame Shirley Bassey belts 'Goldfinger' for James Bond tribute

It's just one of three Bond theme songs she's sung

This year's Academy Awards have long promised a James Bond retrospective, spanning fifty years of the blockbuster franchise, and they pulled out all the stops when it came to one heck of a classy tribute. Halle Berry introduced a relatively been-there-done-that package of Bond clips, but the real show started when Dame Shirley Bassey hit the stage for a standing ovation-worthy performance of "Goldfinger."

Bond trivia! Bassey also sang the theme songs for both "Moonraker" and "Diamonds Are Forever."  You can check out the title sequence for "Goldfinger," featuring Bassey's song, after the break.

Shirley Bassey is a true miracle, I had the honor of hearing her live solo concert at Carnegie Hall years ago.
I have wanted to repeat that experience ever since
Please Miss Bassey give us a concert in the US, you could sell out Vegas for Months!  I promise to fly out for the opening.

She was fantastic! By far the hit of the night. Younger performers could listen to her and know that there is hope for their own futures.

Kudos Ms. Bassey!!!!! Now that's how you take the stage!!! Fantastic. She can give some of today's

current " singers" some serious pointers.... I just wish there had been more of her.

Bassey was awesome.  Everything after that seemed anticlimactic.

A certain one wouldn't show, so they scrapped the original idea of having the actors together on stage. Care to take guesses who?

The Bond tribute was a nice touch to the show and appropriate for the 50 year old franchise.. Bassey's performance was outstanding and reflected the classy side of the classic Bond. Skyfall is also a very good movie & title song but Adele's live performance was seriously lacking. Adele showed none of the vocal power or command of Bassey's performance.

The Bond salute sucked! They were supposed to do a lot more with all the actors to appear. What happened?
