After blowing up everything from downtown Los Angeles to the Pyramids at Giza, the "Transformers" franchise is looking to move in a different direction for its next installment. East, to be precise. According to The Hollywood Reporter, "Transformers 4" is just one of several productions currently scouting locations in Thailand.
Why Thailand? Besides the presumably favorable exchange rates, the promise of hefty tax breaks, and, of course, the country's inherent natural beauty, there are a bevy of historical and cultural attractions that have so far been left unscathed by Hollywood pyrotechnics. The only conceivable downside? Logistically, we can't really imagine how Bangkok's crowded streets could handle the Autobots' substantial, uh, girth... But nobody ever associated the "Transformers" franchise with logic, narrative or otherwise. Besides, who wouldn't want to see Mark Whalberg kicking Megatron in the face, Muay Thai-style, before enjoying a nice Massaman curry with Optimus Prime and Bumblebee? In 3D...?? Nobody! Because that sounds awesome.
