It's Official: Shia LaBeouf Not Returning for Fourth 'Transformers' Film

Will you miss Sam Witwicky?

While the news that Shia LaBeouf is not returning for Michael Bay's next "Transformers" film it not entirely surprising, it still helps clarify some of the elements of the upcoming fourth entry in the franchise. The Hollywood Reporter (via The Playlist), recently sat down with Paramount president Adam Goodman, and the interview yielded all sorts of information about upcoming Paramount films, including the next "Transformers."

When THR asked Goodman, "Is making 'Transformers 4' without Shia LaBeouf risky? Is he out?", the executive responded, "The story is going in a different direction now. Ehren Kruger [who wrote the past two 'Transformers' movies] is writing it for us, and we're starting to engage, but I can't say anything more. "

Back in February, when the news hit that those transforming space cars would be back, along with director Bay, the filmmaker released his own statement about the film on his website. In that post, Bay said, "Steven Spielberg and I are working on a whole new reimagining of Transformers, the fourth installment. We have been working on the idea for a few months. I'm excited about where it's headed." While details are slim, given that Bay coined the film "a reimagining" so early in the process, it's no surprise that LaBeouf won't be back.

As The Playlist points out, LaBeouf has already said essentially the same thing, as he told MTV News last year: "I just don't think right now there's anywhere to take Sam. And it's not that I don't enjoy working with Michael. I love working with Michael. I would do any movie Michael wants to do. I just don't think there's anywhere to take it with Sam."

The fourth "Transformers" film will be released on June 29, 2014. Who would you like to see star in it?

The first and second movie were great the third movie seemed like a decent plot but the addition of the very fake looking blood in the robot fights and the extra time it had to take to explain how sam met his new girlfriend were a waste totally screwing the rest of the movie for me. I agree that more focus on the bots would be great. I will see this movie but will not pay ridiculous theatre prices, will wait for it to go to dvd and rent it from the redbox.

At first I thought Transformers is not transformers without Shia, but the way the film ended it could be taken from the future with his children.  But if take Bumble Bee and Optimus Prime out then our family is done watching.   I am looking forward to the 4 installment.

people aren't really going to see these films because of the actors in them. we are going to see them for the mindless action and cool FX.

Couldn't care less about Shia and was very happy when they tossed out Megan Fox.  Nice to look at but she can't act her way out of a paperbag.  Like others said, focus more on the bots, less on the humans.  Hopefully next movie might have something to do with Unicron!

The less human actors in the next movie, the better. Heck Peter Cullen's voice acting was pure s**

The movie sucked without Meagan Fox and it will suck even more without Shia LaBeouf. Why they gotta changed the actors I so hate that so much.

Need to same actors and stop straying away from original Transformers. The RC Twins were left out of the third installment. They were exciting to watch. Bring in the some of the Transformers that combined like devistator, just dont make them look as cheesy as the did devistator in the second installment. Make them look like the original.

What about LiLo? She could be the train wreck.

Just saying.

I hate when they do a movie, it'll be a hit then they'll do a sequel THEN they will do a PREQUEL about how it all started. That pisses me off big time.

Shouldn't really matter since the only thing this movie actually had correct was the changing of a robot to something else.  Maybe Michael Bay can get out of bed with GM and make the movie accurate for once.  Did he even see the original cartoon.  Besides the fact the Optimus was a cab-over and Megatron was a gun, where the hell was Spike?  I don't ever recall any women being involved.

If you're going to re-make something, get it right.  Might as well call it Go-Bots!!!

We can move it further into the future and have Captain Kirk take the Enterprise to the robots home planet.  Then we can have Mr. Spock do a Vulcan mind-meld with Optimus Prime and if there are any robots in need of repair Mr. Scott could fix their dilanthium crystals (if they use them in the robots) & Dr. McCoy could give them a complete physical.  We could have Lt. Uhura, Sulu & Chekhov in their usual bit roles. Also, if anyone has a "Red Shirt" on you know they will be killed in the movie.

I love Shia.....but this is a good move. He's been bitchin about the Transformer franchise for a minute so let him go.  I for one have enjoyed all three movies and obviously with each movie grossing over a billion each, I wasn't the only one. I am hoping that Unicron and Ultra Magnus will be in the next one.
