'Mission: Blacklist' will be up for grabs at Cannes

By dazzledbytwilight May 3, 2012 11:35AM

Deadline reports that Robert Pattinson has signed on to star in 'Mission:  Blacklist,' directed by Jean-Stéphane Sauvaire ('Johnny Mad Dog').  Based on the novel 'Mission:  Black List #1' by military interrogator Eric Maddox with Davin Seay, the screenplay was adapted by 'Band of Brothers' writer/producer Erik Jendresen.

The film will be sold at the upcoming Cannes Film Market.

According to Deadline:

”Mission: Blacklist” is a psychological thriller that details the true, inside story of the search for Saddam Hussein and the interrogator, Eric Maddox, who spearheaded his capture.

“This movie is a gripping, edge of your seat thriller,” says [Ross M.] Dinerstein [also a producer]. “I have been inspired by Robert and Jean-Stéphane’s dedication to tell this story in the most authentic way possible...”

Pattinson's next film to hit the theaters is David Cronenberg's 'Cosmopolis,' which premieres in May at the Cannes Film Festival, but still has no U.S. release date.

If Pattinson's short-term goal is to distance himself from his sparkly, emo Edward Cullen character, taking on these edgy, challenging films will certainly help his cause.

Can you guess which four?

By dazzledbytwilight May 2, 2012 10:49AM

Four 'Twilight' stars made this year's Glamour magazine's Best Dressed Lists.

On the women's list, Kristen Stewart and Ashley Greene made the cut, with Stewart at number 1 and Greene at number 50:

GLAMOUR says: "Whether she’s working bodycon Monique Lhuillier on the red carpet, or dressing down in jeans and a T-shirt, Kristen is always effortlessly on-trend. Her evolution from awkward teen to style queen has made the Twilight star a fashion icon every girl can relate to."

On the men's list, Robert Pattinson is at number 1, while Taylor Lautner is at number 6.

Do you have an opinion on these stars' personal styles?

MTV is changing up their movie awards voting and categories

By dazzledbytwilight May 2, 2012 10:31AM

The nominations for the 2012 MTV Movie Awards have been announced and surprisingly, 'The Twilight Saga:  Breaking Dawn, Part 1' only garnered two of them:  Movie of the Year, and Best Kiss (for Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart).

In years past the 'Twilight' films have dominated the MTV Movie Awards--not just in the nominations, but also in the awards won.  Five awards in 2009 for 'Twilight,' six in 2010 for 'New Moon,' and five again in 2011 for 'Eclipse.'  What happened in 2012?

According to The Hollywood Reporter, MTV is "classing up" its Movie Awards, dropping several awards categories and adding new ones, as well as creating an "academy" of actors, producers, agents, and other industry insiders to vote on nominees.  The goal seems to be gaining more credibility for the event, which has been "criticized as merely a venue for Hollywood to promote its summer movies."

“We want to make sure some of the unexpected, smaller, quirkier films have a chance,” says MTV president Stephen Friedman, who adds that the Movie Awards is still a hit with its core viewers (last year’s show pulled in 4.5 million viewers, registering its largest teen audience since 2004). “But it wasn’t growing the way we want it to."

With only two MTV Movie Awards events left for 'The Twilight Saga' films, this downward trend in 'Twilight' nominations will be seen as either a relief or a disappointment, depending on your level of Twi-Hardness.

Will this be her 'Cosmopolis'?

By dazzledbytwilight Apr 28, 2012 12:41PM

Cinema Blend reports, via Variety, that Kristen Stewart has signed on to play Mya, one half of a con artist couple, in 'Cali,' an action/drama film set in Los Angeles involving a faked death and a wild cast of characters:

Variety reveals Stewart has signed on to play Mya, one half of a con artist couple that's looking to make some serious cash. Their plan is simple though deeply twisted. They decide to make a snuff movie with Mya as its seemingly ill-fated star. Ultimately, the killer flick is a hoax that nets them major bank, but forces them to fake her death and flee town. Surprisingly, their plan works great. The problem comes when the little sister Mya left behind needs help. Now, Mya and her boyfriend Chris must return to California and confront "angry former business partners, homicidal porn stars, stoner vet tech, [and] an unstoppable killing machine in a cowboy hat," all while dealing with the emerging issues in their relationship.

The film's concept is by Michael Diliberti, probably known best for last year's '30 Minutes or Less.'

From Variety:

Kristen is a talented and dynamic actor, with a proven box office draw,” said [Craig J.] Flores. “Her role in ‘Cali’ will be edgy and sexy. It will no doubt push the envelope on the public’s view of Kristen’s wide-ranging abilities. Voltage is thrilled to have her as a partner on this fantastic film.

Craig J. Flores (“300″) and Zev Foreman (“Killer Joe”) will produce for Voltage, while Diliberti will also produce. His manager, Brian Levy of New School Media, will exec produce with Voltage topper Nicolas Chartier (“The Hurt Locker”) and Stewart, who will pick up her first producing credit on the project.

Stewart will debut as a producer on this project...that's stepping it up a notch!

Horror for the tween set?

By dazzledbytwilight Apr 28, 2012 12:16PM
Entertainment Weekly reports that Fickle Fish Films--Stephenie Meyer's production company--is planning a film adaptation of the 1974 Lois Duncan book, 'Down a Dark Hall.'

Never heard of it?  Me either.

EW has more on this:

If one were going to break down the reading habits of a generation simply, we had Judy Blume to give us comfort through the trials of adolescence and then we had Lois Duncan to scare the stuffing out of us and keep us up all night. You think the Reaping was tense times? Or the search for Horcruxes stressful? Just you go back and pick up some Duncan books, which blend just enough reality with the supernatural to make them absolutely terrifying. (Just seeing the original cover of the book is enough to make this writer’s heart lurch.)  “It gave me some serious nightmares when I was 9,” Meyer wrote on her blog this morning, noting that the 1974 novel was a favorite with hers, along with Summer of Fear and Stranger with My Face. Side note: even Lois Duncan titles were scary.

Amazon's book description:

Kit Gordy sees Blackwood Hall towering over black iron gates, and she can't help thinking, This place is evil. The imposing mansion sends a shiver of fear through her. But Kit settles into a routine, trying to ignore the rumors that the highly exclusive boarding school is haunted.

Then her classmates begin to show extraordinary and unknown talents. The strange dreams, the voices, the lost letters to family and friends, all become overshadowed by the magic around them.

When Kit and her friends realize that Blackwood isn't what it claims to be, it might be too late.

It doesn't sound that scary, but the reviews on Amazon say otherwise.

I wonder how creeptastic they'll make this; will it be a PG-13 or an R film?  I'm sure Meyer's fans hope they'll be able to see it.

I think they can find something for him, don't you?

By dazzledbytwilight Apr 28, 2012 12:04PM

Kellan Lutz, best known as the hulking but soft-hearted Emmett Cullen, has expressed interest in joining the 'Hunger Games' franchise.  If Robert Pattinson can go from one successful film franchise to another ('Harry Potter' to 'Twilight'), then why not Lutz?

According to E! Online's Marc Malkin, Lutz spilled the beans on his love for 'The Hunger Games':

"I love the script, I love the movie, everything about it!" Lutz gushed to us last night at Us Weekly's Hot Hollywood bash at Greystone Manor in West Hollywood.

Lutz said he's "always been" a fan of the franchise. "I got hooked reading all those books," he said. "I remember before they ever started making a movie, I was like, "I would love to be a part of this!'"

Asked about the comparisons between 'Twilight' and 'Hunger Games,' Lutz said:

I feel like Twilight's kind of more girly and on the romance side and lacks the action and then Hunger Games is very much an action-packed movie that lacks some of the romance."

"But those stories, it shows that you don't have to stick to one certain formula," he said. "If you have these keys ingredients in the caldron it will make a great movie. It's great that there's fans for both of them."

Could you see him in 'The Hunger Games'?  If so, what character?  And how would you feel seeing Lutz in another blockbuster franchise?
