Fortunately news travels fast, especially good news.
It has been confirmed that although he was clipped by a taxi as he tried to rush across the street, he was unhurt by the incident and walked away fine.
Original reports claimed he was hit while trying to escape a mob of crazy fans, but RobPattzNews has an exclusive report from a fan who witnessed the whole incident, and it doesn't sound like it was anything as out of control as Wednesday's mobbing.
If that is the case, then it makes me sad to think that Rob is potentially getting to the point where he is wary and scared of all fans--crazed, disrespectful ones, as well as calm, polite ones. Because I suppose a dozen or so mellow fans standing outside waiting to merely catch a glimpse of you could quickly grow into a few dozen screaming fans running after you, with several trying touch you and get your photo and talk to you.
After the many peaceful fan encounters he had in Vancouver while filming "New Moon," I hope he doesn't start running the other way every time he sees any amount of fans waiting for him. The thought of him turning into another jaded and paranoid superstar who never interacts with fans would be well...sigh.
Many are asking about his security, but People magazine reports that in addition to the bodyguards assigned to him by the production company, Robert hired his own extra security. Good--he sure needs it.

Taking place during the 4th of July weekend, this benefit for the Make A Wish Foundation will have several "Twilight" cast members in attendance, including Edi Gathegi, Rachelle Lefevre, Peter Facinelli, Christian Serratos, Alex Meraz, and Mike Welch--a healthy mix of humans, vampires, and wolves.
There is a one day package and a one-week package.
Rachelle Lefevre says, "Hey Twilight fans! Really looking forward to seeing you at the event on July 4th for an amazing Independence Day celebration. You can root for whoever you want but remember, I'm the one with the wicked curve-ball!"
Deets are here.

It's one thing to see your cinematic crush in person and go all fangirl with your heart beating out of your chest, tears streaming down your face, and screams coming out of your mouth. That's perfectly normal. But to push past the guy's bodyguards and grab him, let alone wrap yourself around his neck, is just psycho. I saw a bunch of the photos which documented this disastrous fan encounter, and then I watched the video of it, and was truly aghast. No surprise that Rob remained gracious, even though he was probably freaked.
Filming today seemed more peaceful--mostly because security for Robert was beefed up with NYPD and more bodyguards, plus some barriers on the sidewalk. Why they didn't have all this from day 1 is a puzzlement.
Is this supposed to be a scene where he blends into the crowd? He blends in here like I blend in at the local Norwegian Salmon Festival.
I want to be an umbrella holder. I could be so good at it. Seriously.
How the term "jaw porn" got invented:
So many photos and videos, and it's only been two days of filming:
- Lainey Gossip wonders about his wardrobe (I'm wondering, too) here.
- If you want to see poor Rob get mauled, the video is here. Ugh.
- OK Magazine has a set report, posted by Twilight Poison here.
- Even New York Magazine had a short piece and slideshow--it's here.
- Bauer Griffin has about 60+ photos of Day 1 shooting here.
- See a peaceful fan video of Day 1 filming here.
- More Bauer Griffin pics, Day 2 filming, Rob with bruises here.
- TwiCrack Addict has a nice fan encounter here. See what happens if you behave?
Thanks to RobPattzNews for all the tweets that kept me up to date!

The editors of Us Weekly have put together this limited-edition magazine with photos from "Twilight" and behind-the-scenes deets on "New Moon" filming. If your bedroom or office (or asylum) walls need some Twilight-ish decor, the mag has seven pull-out posters. If you have a big laminating machine then you can put the waterproofed posters in your shower stall. Just an idea, mind you.
The magazine comes out June 26, but you can pre-order at bn.com; online non-member price is $9.99. Cheezily titled "The Sexy Stars of Twilight," I will guess that this will sell out quickly. The six-pack always does the job.

Ok we've all seen it like, 27 times, right? If you haven't seen it yet, where the heck have you been lately?! See it here.
On the other side of the coin, was there a scene you did NOT like? A scene that left you a little or a lot disappointed? Was there a scene that was different from what you expected or wanted? Comment below!

On June 12, a fan asked about a "rumor that The Scientist by Coldplay" was going to be on the "New Moon" soundtrack, and the Oracle replies that, "It's very likely that a Coldplay song will end up on the soundtrack to the Twilight sequel given that Stephenie Meyer has credited Coldplay, amongst others, on the inner sleeve for 'being instrumental in staving off the writer's block.'"
So of course I'm dying to know what scene this song would be used for. In the song he comes back to her, and he's missed her so, and it's a bittersweet reunion--so it must be an Edward+Bella song, right? Jacob isn't that emo.
Are you a Coldplay fan? I sure am, and I would love for this song to be on the soundtrack! If you haven't heard it, here it is.
