As a mean frat boy, no less

By dazzledbytwilight Apr 9, 2013 1:24PM

Check out Taylor Lautner as a frat boy in the new trailer for "Grown Ups 2," starring Adam Sandler, Kevin James and Salma Hayek.

It looks ridiculous and rife with juvenile humor, but I did laugh out loud.

"Grown Ups 2" hits theaters July 12.

With Good Morning America and Vulture magazine

By dazzledbytwilight Apr 2, 2013 10:56AM
Author Stephenie Meyer has been making the rounds talking about her latest film, "The Host."

Meyer had a fun interview with Vulture magazine, touching on topics such as love triangles (featured in both "The Host" and "Twilight") and post-"Twilight" depression:

Do you have an eye obsession? In both Twilight and The Host, your characters end up with glowy eyes.
I don't know! It seems to come out a lot, right? I don't consciously do that, so I must really be into eyes. My brother's an optometrist, so I pick up on that. But by the time they had to wear the really awful contacts, everybody's miserable, and it's my fault. Although, in this, in The Host, it's not quite my fault. In the book, it's not as obvious, which would make it easier for the aliens to invade. It's only when you shine a light at them that you get an odd reflection, and you wouldn't know otherwise. But Andrew [Niccol, the director] wanted something very pronounced, so it's his fault. And it was hard, with the dust storms in the desert. We had lens techs out there constantly putting drops in their eyes, and it slows production down. We did that with Twilight, so many years of contacts and pain, crying and anguish. You think you would learn!

Apparently you got the cast T-shirts that said "Love Box" to describe the love triangle involving two-persons-in-one-body geometry.
I didn't know that was considered dirty in England! The boys came up with that. Anything dirty came from them. The thing I like particularly about Saoirse's portrayal of this, is that when you're writing it, these two characters are every bit as distinct as two characters in two different bodies. Writing it is one thing, portraying it is another, and Saoirse made it look really easy, and she has a different chemistry with each of the boys, so it's really easy to remember that these are two separate relationships. But it gets complicated, because there is a love triangle between Melanie and Wanda and Jared, and then there's another triangle between Wanda and Jared and Ian, so it goes all over the place.

Did writing this and producing the film help cure any post-Twilight depression you might have had?
I totally thought that was going to be a thing! I waited for it, and when it didn't happen, I thought, Oh, it's because we still have all this stuff ahead. We got to the last premiere, and it didn't hit. I felt nothing but relief. Analyzing that since then, I feel like it was because I was ready to walk from that world. I don't miss the characters. Now, I may someday feel like, "Oh, I miss Bella. I want to hang out with Alice" or something. But right now, I'm happy it was what it was, I'm happy to be done with it, and I don't feel any depression about it, which is nice. And it is nice to have another world to be excited about.

Meyer also stopped by Good Morning America, where young fans had some interesting questions for her:

She's your favorite buttkickin' female movie actress

By dazzledbytwilight Mar 26, 2013 6:06PM

Kristen Stewart took home two blimps after winning Favorite Movie Actress (for "Breaking Dawn, Part 2") and Favorite Female Buttkicker (for "Snow White and the Huntsman") at the 2013 Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards.

She was even game enough to get indirectly slimed by hugging presenters Neil Patrick Harris and Sandra Bullock.

A Volturi and a Quileute shapeshifter join the sci-fi action series

By dazzledbytwilight Mar 21, 2013 10:46AM

"X-Men: Days of Future Past" director Bryan Singer recently tweeted a group of head shots featuring the updated roster for the film, and alongside some of our favorites (Hugh Jackman, Jennifer Lawrence, James McAvoy, Sir Patrick Stewart, Sir Ian McKellan) are additions that will thrill "Twilight" fans.

Below Stewart's head shot is Daniel Cudmore, better known to us as Felix, the hulking Volturi vampire who beat up Edward in "New Moon." He is reprising his role as Piotr Rasputin/Colossus, the metal-bodied mutant from "X2" (2003) and "X-Men: The Last Stand" (2006).

Colossus plays an integral part in the new film's story, as he's married to fellow mutant Shadowcat/Kitty Pryde (Ellen Page), who is one of the lead characters.

We are psyched that Cudmore has joined another awesome film franchise!

Booboo Stewart, who played Seth in the "Twilight" series, is also joining the "X-Men" cast. His head shot is below Halle Berry's.

No word yet on what role he'll taking on, but let's hope it's a mutant one. Stewart is tight-lipped about his part, but did tell MTV, "It's a dream come true, really. It's pretty incredible. I can't even explain the feeling that I have for this right now."

More from MTV:
"The most revealing fact that Stewart revealed is that he's gained 50 pounds since January, and he is sporting much longer hair than normal. While we previously had Stewart pegged for Sunfire, the bulking up and long hair combo seems pretty Thunderbird-ish to us. Thunderbird was on our short list for inclusion in the latest X-Film, so this would be a pretty exciting development."

Others in that group of head shots, in case you were wondering, are: Ellen Page, Anna Paquin, Peter Dinklage, Nicholas Hoult, Shawn Ashmore and Michael Fassbender. Stellar!

"X-Men: Days of Future Past" is slated to open July 18, 2014.

The 'Twilight' hunk is all beat up!

By dazzledbytwilight Mar 15, 2013 1:16PM

EW.com got a first look at Robert Pattinson's upcoming film, director David Michôd's "The Rover," in which he co-stars with Guy Pearce and Scoot McNairy.

Robert Pattinson plays a denizen of the Outback in the near future, after a worldwide financial collapse has sent many like him running to the still viable mines of the Australian desert. “It’s like a new gold rush,” says Michôd. “Where people from all corners of the world have come out to the desert to scrape out an existence. Petty criminals and miscreants and hustlers.” Guy Pearce, who had an uncharacteristically reserved role in Animal Kingdom, gets to sink his teeth into a nicely nasty part opposite Pattinson. “The basic story is really quite elemental,” says Michôd. “You’ve got a really dark, dangerous, murderous person in Guy’s character, and in Rob’s character you have a quite troubled and damaged, but beautiful and naïve, soul.”

Of course, just by its setting and basic plot, The Rover is poised to draw comparisons to one of the antipodean country’s most memorable cinematic contributions. “You put cars in the desert in Australia and people are going to think of Mad Max,” says Michôd. “And with all due respect to that film — and I stress that — I think The Rover is going to be way more chillingly authentic and menacing.”

No release date for the film as of today.

The mark. brand ambassador joins advocates against teen violence

By dazzledbytwilight Mar 15, 2013 1:05PM

Ashley Greene, the brand ambassador for mark., spoke on Capitol Hill about March 13, NO MORE day in Washington D.C.:

mark. Brand Ambassador Ashley Greene joined advocates on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. for a congressional briefing to announce data from the “NO MORE Study: Teens and Young Adults,” funded by m.powerment by mark., managed by the Avon Foundation for Women. The results of the study – which explored attitudes toward, and experience with dating abuse, partner violence, and sexual assault among teens and young adults – clearly underscore the need to educate young people so they recognize the signs of abuse and how to safely intervene to help end it.

The study showed that dating violence and sexual assault are a disturbing reality in the lives of young people. One in 6 young women self-reported having been a victim of sexual assault, more than a third reported knowing a victim of sexual assault and over half know a victim of dating abuse. In contrast, only 36% of young men reported knowing a victim of dating violence and 25% reported knowing a sexual assault victim, because they talk much less about the issue. However, the study found that both young women and men are willing to intervene to stop abuse, but they don’t feel confident to recognize abusive situations and are unsure how to intervene.

“As a young woman, I am proud to help launch the NO MORE campaign and announce the new m.powerment by mark. Healthy Relationship College Program,” said Ashley Greene. “While the results of the NO MORE study are sobering, the silver lining is that the respondents reported they were willing to get involved to stop the abuse. We have the power to end the cycle and this is a monumental step towards that.”
