The New Release Rack

 

"War Horse" (Fox), Steven Spielberg's World War I from a horse's-eye view, was nominated for six Academy Awards. Blu-ray, DVD, digital download and On Demand, available same day at Redbox. 

 

"We Bought a Zoo" (Fox) stars Matt Damon as a widowed father who buys a run-down zoo in an attempt to restart a life for himself and his children. Blu-ray, DVD and digital download.

 

Also new this week:

"Tyrannosaur" (Strand) from Britain with Peter Mullan and Olivia Colman.

"Being Elmo: A Puppeteer's Journey" (Docurama), a documentary on the man behind the Muppet.

"The Double Hour" (Flatiron), a romantic drama from Italy.

"Miss Bala" (Fox), a gritty crime thriller from Mexico.

TV on Disc

 

"Torchwood: Miracle Day" (BBC) brings the adult "Doctor Who" spin-off to the states for a mini-series about a miracle that turns into a curse. Blu-ray and DVD.

 

"Masterpiece Classic: Great Expectations" (PBS) delivers the new BBC incarnation of the Charles Dickens classic on Blu-ray and DVD before the finale plays on PBS.

 

Also new this week:

"Eagleheart: Season One" (Warner), a comedy with Chris Elliot .

"Bob: The Complete Series" (Paramount) starring Bob Newhart as a comic book artist.

Off the Rack – Classic, Cult and Blu-ray Debuts

 

"The Corsican Brothers" (Hen's Tooth), the lively 1941 swashbuckler starring Douglas Fairbanks Jr. as identical twins, arrived on DVD only.

 

"Chinatown" (Paramount), one of the great films of the 1970s, debuts on Blu-ray.

 

Also new this week:

"Pola Negri: The Iconic Collection - The Early Films" (Bright Shining City) features four silent films.

"Nicole Kidman 4-Film Collection" (Lionsgate) collects some of the actress' best movies on a DVD set.

Netflix Instant

 

"Rango" (2011), which won Best Animated Feature at the Academy Awards, and "March of the Penguins" (2004), winner for Best Documentary, lead off a new collection of Oscar winners.

 

Also new on Netflix Instant Streaming:

Best Picture winners "Driving Miss Daisy" (1989), "Amadeus" (1984), "Chariots of Fire" (1981), "Rocky" (1976), and many more.

TV on Netflix Instant this week includes "The Chicago Code" (2011) and "Lights Out" (2011).

New at Redbox

 

Arriving day and date with stores at Redbox: Steven Spielberg's Oscar-nominated "War Horse" arrives on Blu-ray and DVD.

 

"Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy," "Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close," and "Immortals" all arrive on Blu-ray and DVD just weeks after release. Also new this week are "Breaking Wind" and "Columbus Circle," and flashback release arriving in kiosks is the 2008 video-game movie "Max Payne" with Mark Wahlberg.
