Briefs: Miranda Lambert has a new career as a women’s shoe designer
Plus, Sammy Kershaw's Louisiana home damaged in a fire
• Miranda Lambert is launching her own line of women’s shoes, in conjunction with Rich Footwear Group. Lambert will help design the product line, which will include casual and dress shoes, sandals and boots.
“From country to rock ’n’ roll, my goal is to style shoes that fit your inner outlaw,” says Lambert in a press release. “Being involved in the creative part and hands-on development of my footwear brand is a dream come true.”
The products are expected to be available in department stores, specialty footwear and national retail chains across the U.S. and Canada early next year. Another likely target is the singer’s own retail boutique, The Pink Pistol, in Tishomingo, Okla.
• Sammy Kershaw’s Lafayette, La., home sustained heavy smoke damage after a fire broke out in the kitchen earlier today. Fortunately, no one was injured in the fire inadvertently started by Kershaw when a box slid over the kitchen stove, catching the knobs that ignite the burners.
After leaving his home, he was alerted to he blaze by his alarm company. Kershaw immediately returned home and threw towels onto the stovetop to help smother the flames. Firefighters arrived at the scene soon afterwards to extinguish the blaze.
“You’ve got to count your blessings, every one of them,” says Kershaw in a prepared statement. “This could have been so much worse. The guardian angel that God assigned to me is always working overtime.”
