Briefs: Taylor Swift to guest star on the FOX comedy “New Girl.”
Plus, Craig Campbell goes crazy for cornhole
• Taylor Swift is set to make a guest appearance of the season two finale of FOX’s sitcom “New Girl” airing May 14, according to Entertainment Weekly’s EW.com. Swift will play a character named Elaine who is an “important guest” at the wedding of Cece (Hannah Simone) and Shivrang (Satya Bhabha), EW.com reports. Swift, a fan of the show, has been mentioned in the dialog of several episodes this season, and her song “22” was featured in one. She will reportedly be on-set next week shooting her part.
• Luke Bryan has launched an interactive, online music video for his song “Just A Sip,” from his latest album, “Spring Break … Here To Party.” The technology employed allows fans to replace frames of the video with images of themselves replicating Bryan’s movements. Nearly 1,300 frames have been swapped with fan images, representing more than 30% of the final video, which is continually updated with new submissions every 20 minutes. Check it out here.
“The best part about my job is getting to interact with my fans and this interactive video is just another fun way to do that,” says Bryan in a press release. “I hope everyone enjoys making it as much as I did.”
• Craig Campbell revealed today on his Facebook page the May 7 street date and cover art for his sophomore album, “Never Regret.” The 12-song project includes six written by Campbell, who is best known for his hit “Family Man” from his first project.
Campbell and his band are avid players of the game cornhole, and he even takes a custom-painted cornhole board on the road with him. So it’s not surprising that on June 4, Campbell will host the inaugural Celebrity Cornhole Challenge to benefit the TJ Martell Foundation’s colon cancer research efforts. The downtown Nashville event, to be held just prior to the start of the CMA Music Festival, will honor Campbell’s father, who died of the disease at age 36.
Campbell will be joined at the event by fellow country artists and celebrity friends including Gloriana, Greg Bates, Jerrod Niemann, LoCash Cowboys, Love and Theft, The Farm, Rachel Bradshaw, and Titans Kicker Rob Bironas.
