The Queen of Hip-Pop Surprised Fans with an Outdoor Show

New York City's Times Square is known for impromptu happenings like flash mobs and street performances. However, Friday night (April 6th), fans of Nicki Minaj had the shock of their lives when Barbie appeared in the center of Times Square to perform. The show occurred as part of Nokia's Lumia 900 campaign. With Nokia screens lit in all corners of the Square, a gigantic blue box sat in the center with a ticker counting down, New Years Eve style. "Counting down to what?" tourists and New Yorkers alike wondered, as they strolled through the streets of Manhattan.

But we knew that already

It's a rare occurrence that John Legend make a misstep when it comes to R&B. And -- spoiler alert! -- his latest single, "Made to Love," won't sully his pristine track record either. In fact, its separately good parts make for one fantastic whole.

How did THAT happen?

So it looks like Chris Brown won the race for who could unearth some rare Aaliyah music and thrust it upon the masses. On Chris Brown's latest track "Don't Think They Know," C Breezy samples a previously unreleased verse from the late R&B siren. Your move, Drake.

(Not so) spoiler alerts.

If you're not planning on buying Kanye West's much anticipated sixth album "Yeezus," here's what you're missing. And if you are, here's what you have to look forward to.

Hov just stole Yeezus' thunder.

Is this really happening? Just as Kanye West is set to deliver his sixth studio album on Tuesday (June 18th) while simultaneously celebrating the birth of his new daughter, Jay-Z came in and snatched his wig. He's clearly been taking cues from his wife.

The legendary producer plays a key role in the creation of 'Yeezus.'

As Kanye West gears for the release of his sixth solo album Yeezus, more info on the project is beginning to circulate. Sure we know about collaborations with Justin Vernon of Bon Iver, Kid Cudi, Daft Punk, Chief Keef, King Louie, and a few others, but the project's Executive Producer Rick Rubin had a few things to say. The living legend spoke with the Wall Street Journal about Kanye West, his efficiency, and what his contribution is to hip-hop as a whole.

It's all here!

Fresh off a banner week, as Robin Thicke's single "Blurred Lines" has just topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart (a first-time feat for the singer), he's seemingly thanked the fans for the tune's success in the form of some big reveals: the cover artwork for the album of the same name, its tracklist, and most importantly, its release date.

But you may want your money back

Though Alicia Keys has yet to see one single from her "Girl on Fire" album go #1—the title track came closest but we all remember how, let's say, trying it was to hear that tune over and over—that doesn't mean she's given up on the effort just yet. If anything, with five singles already released within the six months since the album's dropped, she seems to be throwing anything against the wall to see what sticks.

Condensed for your reading pleasure!

Kanye West doesn't talk often but, much like a senile elder or that wandering neighbor who's got a few screws loose, when he does, it's gooood. This isn't to say that 'Ye is nuts, but damnit if he doesn't take that "misunderstood" genius bit to the grave. In a new interview with the New York Times, 'Ye lets his crazy flag fly high and we love him for him it. Or hate him. You decide. Here's what you need to know, once and for all!
