Start the new year right with a new Suffocation track
'Pinnacle of Bedlam' out February 15
What better way to kick off the new year in metal by a new song from one of the best American death metal bands around? Long Island mainstays Suffocation sounded rejuvenated ever since moving from Relapse to Nuclear Blast, and Pinnacle of Bedlam, their follow-up to 2009’s very good Blood Oath, is set to be released on February 15.
The new record is exactly what fans expect it to sound like: punishing, throttling, no-frills death metal led by the distinct voice of Frank Mullen. But just like the last album, the songs really leap out at listeners, intricacy, physicality, and yes, melody combining to make a very fun, engaging record. A perfect example is “As Grace Descends”, which has been made available as a preview track via YouTube. In the wake of the bloat of the holidays and December’s glut of year-end lists, there’s no better palate cleanser than some good, honest new metal, and this new Suffocation track fits the bill perfectly.
