Soundgarden announces winter tour
The grunge icons are on the comeback trail with a new album and 20-date tour
Get ready to fly your flannel flag because Soundgarden is hitting the road.
The dark and sludgy grunge rockers will release "King Animal," their first album in 16 years, on Tuesday and today it was announced that Soundgarden will embark on a 20-date North America tour to support the release. The tour begins Jan. 18 in Washington, D.C. and ends Feb. 16 in Los Angeles.
Since reuniting in 2010 the band has played some pretty massive shows, including a headlining slot at Lollapalooza, but instead of making their first full tour in a more than a decade and a half an overblown arena event, Soundgarden decided to make this a more intimate affair by playing theaters and concert halls. The band's itinerary includes two-night engagements in New York City, Toronto, Chicago, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Seattle.
