Taylor Swift Wins ACM Entertainer Of The Year

Young Singer Lands Evening’s Top Prize

By Phyllis Stark Apr 1, 2012 9:15PM

Taylor Swift was named entertainer of the year, in the final prize of tonight’s ACM Awards. The hard-touring, 22-year-old star bested a quartet of men in the category, Jason Aldean, Kenny Chesney, Brad Paisley and Blake Shelton. Both Chesney and Paisley left the awards show empty handed.

Show host Shelton later told the media Swift deserved to win. "I don’t think there is anyone in this business who would stand up there and think otherwise," he said. "But I’m always going to make fun of her in my monologues. She’d better get used to that."

Shortly after her win, Swift also faced the media corps in the press room and said of her fans, who had a hand in voting for the category, “I am so amazed that they keep doing such incredibly nice things for me, these giant gestures, like voting for entertainer of the year. I just want to hug them all the time and thank them for everything.”

Swift also revealed she’s “intensely writing” songs for her next album. “Keep your fingers crossed,” she said. “I would love it if it was good.”

Let me say this, What the ..ll was that with Ashton Kutcher? He can't sing, he can't act and did not belong on the CMA Awards with his two idiot so called band mates. What is wrong with the CMA this year. Leave the funny stuff to Reba and Blake. Ashton was not funny at all. He's a pig.

Let the fans decide who should be on the show, after all we buy the music, and none of us what Kutcher!!

Blake Shelton should have won (Entertainer of the Year) and everyone knows it. Taylor is no more country than Madonna. She should have never won the award. And... don't tell me online voters voted for her either, (because that is Bull). Everyone on the list is a better singer than her by far.

CMA has got it wrong, wrong, wrong! Stop blowing smoke up her ...!

Why is country music allowing one of the biggest awards to be decided by votes???  Good singer, yeah - Entertainer of the Year...NO WAY!!!

Taylor is the hardest working singer, songwriter and performer in country music. She earned this award. Stop crying and move on. The fans voted this like it is supposed to be.

Poor excuse for a singer,  all country is sickening.  I am a country fan, but haven't listened to it for 3-4 years, only classic country.  When are these singers going to get back to original songs like Allen Jackson, George Jones, etc.  They all sound the same - sick sound!!    This Taylor Swift is way over emphasized and promoted!!

Again the people that should have won this award were robbed. We still can't see how this person can win any award with the same old stuff that comes out. She sings like a cat in heat. Hopefully the people will get tired of the same old stuff and award the people that really can sing along with putting on a great show.

You have got to be joking me.  I would really like the judges to cleanout their ears.  Taylor Swift can't sing worth beans.  My cat does a better job.  As for the insult to Keith Urban.  Keith Urban played a tribute to our military.  Get a life editors!

Ms. Swift has a very unique delivery of lyrics and her songs are an indication of her talent.  Her song "Mean" is a good sample of what I'm talking about.  She is a refreshing young entertainer that look forward to seeing and listening to for years to come.

I don't know why everyone is so down on Taylor Swift. True, she doesn't have the most "country" of a voice, but her songs certainly reflect her feelings about her life and surroundings which is one of the foundations of country music. She also isn't a bad actress. One of my favorite CSI episodes is the one in which she played a young troubled teenager. I really like her and wish her all the best.

Save me!!  You gotta be kidding!!  Is such an indicator as to how far country music has sank.
