Taylor Swift names five new opening acts for her upcoming RED Tour
New additions include Florida Georgia Line and Casey James
With less than two weeks to go before she gasses up the busses for her RED Tour, Taylor Swift has announced several additional support acts that will be joining her on the road.
The tour launches March 13, in Omaha, Neb., and the North American leg will encompass a total of 66 shows in 47 cities in 29 states and three Canadian provinces spanning six months. These shows include 13 stadium stops.
As previously announced, 22-year-old British singer/songwriter Ed Sheeran will be a special guest on all of the shows on the tour. His duet with Swift, “Everything Has Changed,” reached the No. 1 position atop the iTunes all-genre Top Songs chart.
Newly announced, 16-year-old YouTube star Austin Mahone will perform on each of the tour’s 13 stadium stops. The Texas teen has been uploading videos of himself covering songs by his favorite artists since 2010, and has amassed more than 102 million YouTube page vides in that time.
Swift will also take some country acts on the road with her. New additions to the lineup are Brett Eldredge (in 14 cities), former “American Idol” finalist Casey James (14 cities), 20-year-old newcomer Joel Crouse (11 cities), and Florida Georgia Line (eight cities).
“Taylor Swift has such a massively successful career because she is an authentic artist through and through,” says Eldredge. “There is really nothing she can't do. I’m incredibly honored to be included on her tour and beyond excited to be able to share my music with all of her fans.”
