Jerrod Niemann Readies His Second Major Label Album For Release
Set Includes A Duet With Colbie Callait
Jerrod Niemann spent 10 hours signing autographs following his fan club party in Nashville Monday night, and he had some big news to share with those fans. Niemann will release his second major label album, titled “Free The Music,” on Oct. 2. He performed songs from the new set at his fan club event, where he shared the stage with friend and fellow artist Lee Brice.
“Free The Music is an album where I wanted to do just that,” says Niemann in a media statement. “It’s a project honoring many different layers and colors that have appeared in the country genre since recorded music began.”
It took Niemann two years to record the album, partly because he used some non-standard recording techniques, including using his road band on the tracks instead of hiring studio musicians. He also employed brasswind horns throughout the project, which includes a mix of rockabilly and reggae sounds. He teamed once again with Dave Brainard, his co-producer from his last album, “Judge Jerrod & The Hung Jury.” They recorded the project in Nashville.
The album contains the song “Real Women Drink Beer,” which is also a tagline in some of the merchandise items he sells at his shows. He also collaborated with guest vocalist Colbie Caillat on the ballad, “All About You.”
Niemann is currently out on the road with Miranda Lambert as part of her “On Fire” tour, and will be commencing his own fair and festival tour later this fall.
