Scotty McCreery Wins Major Award, Then Graduates High School
Singer Packs Two Major Milestones Into 12 Hours
Half a day after winning a CMT Music Award in Nashville, Scotty McCreery was back home in Garner, N.C., this morning for another important milestone—graduating from Garner Magnet High School with distinguished honors.
He’ll return to Nashville on Friday for the CMA Music Festival, where he will sign autographs, hold his first fan club party and then perform Sunday night at LP Field.
As previously reported here, on Wednesday night McCreery won the Breakthrough Video of the Year for “The Trouble With Girls” at the CMT Music Awards. He attended the show with his prom date, who also starred in the video, which was shot at Garner Magnet High School. McCreery also performed “Water Tower Town” during the show.
Wednesday also marked his first anniversary of coming to Nashville to meet with his new record label for the first time and attend the 2011 CMT Music Awards, the first country music awards show he ever attended.
After winning the award, he flew home to North Carolina Wednesday night so that he could graduate this morning with his class. During his senior year, he earned a platinum debut album, two gold singles and two new artist awards in addition to serving as a pitcher for his high school’s baseball team.
