In The Studio: Martina McBride Planning To Record New Christmas Album
New Albums In The Works From Scotty McCreery, The Band Perry, Kenny Rogers And More
Martina McBride is on the hunt for songs for a Christmas album she’s planning to record this summer with producer Ron Fair according to Row Fax, a weekly listing of artists’ upcoming recording projects, aimed at Nashville’s professional songwriting and music publishing communities. McBride previously released the holiday album “White Christmas” in 1998.
In other Nashville recording news, The Band Perry is seeking songs with “quirky lyrics” and a “Tom Perry feel” for their next album. No producer has been announced.
Scotty McCreery’s camp is already on the hunt for songs for his sophomore album; putting out word they want “age appropriate, great songs.” Mark Bright is back in the producer’s chair for that one.
Following his move to Warner Music Nashville, Kenny Rogers is seeking “story songs with a message or social commentary a la ‘Coward of the Country’ or ‘The Greatest’” for his upcoming project.
Keith Urban wants “hit songs with great melodies” for his next album with producer Dann Huff. And in fact, hit songs are the order of the day. According to Row Fax, Wynonna wants “uptempo radio hits” for her next album, being produced by her fiancé, Cactus Moser. LeAnn Rimes is seeking “radio hits,” something that has eluded her of late. Former Trick Pony singer Heidi Newfield simply wants “hits.” Sara Evans, meanwhile, is “looking for all tempos” and Blake Shelton is simply seeking “great songs” for his next album, with Scott Hendricks producing.
