This year's Grammy Awards will feature a heavy dose of robotics, as Daft Punk are set to perform at the live ceremony. It makes theiir first televised performance since the 2008 Grammy Awards, where they played alongside Kanye West. The French electronic duo are up for four awards: Album of the Year and Best Dance/Electronica Album for "Random Access Memories" and Record of the Year and Best Pop Duo/Group performance for their smash hit "Get Lucky."

"We learned that because they had such a good experience with us when they appeared with Kanye in 2008, they were happy to discuss a performance on this year's show," Executive Producer Ken Ehrlich tells Rolling Stone. "Conversations took place over a period of a couple of months, and finally they agreed to be a part of this year's telecast. Details of the performance are still being worked out, but the idea of having the exclusive television performance by this iconic band is something we're very, very excited about."

Just how lucky will we get with their performance? Ehrlich says that the show plans to deliver "a collaborative and celebratory stage performance that honors their multi-nominated music." Random Access Memories was one of 2013's biggest albums, but the band played no shows to support it.

The Grammy Awards will air live on CBS on January 26th, at 8 p.m. EST. Along with Daft Punk, more than a dozen performers will grace the Grammy stage.

Definitely intrigued.  I don't even count their performance with Kanye.  I agree with Brandon ^  that was an awful "collaborative" effort.  Kanye basically took the song and rapped over it.  It actually rendered the original DP song unlistenable...

I thought their Grammy performance with Kanye was one of the biggest bastardizations of good music ever made.  Better, faster, stronger was a great track, what they did with Kanye was a horrid example of how record companies can take talent and mix it with crap to produce something just to sell to a market outside what would normally buy it.  I can only hope that they don't ever do this again.  I've been listening to Daft Punk for almost 20 years now.  Homework is pretty much THE iconic house album from the 90's that will probably never have a comparison due to it's foresight and timing in the electronic music revolution.  They were pioneers.  They've only gotten better with their technique over the years, and although it's never been as raw as Homework, I would never expect it to be because they've matured.  As for your comment Inthishouse, you have no idea what you're talking about if you think all they had to do to produce their music and stage show is sit behind a laptop.  When they started making music they had an 808 and a dat recorder, and made better tracks than 99% of the bulls%*t you hear today.  They will be widely regarded throughout future history as genius and most likely put on a pedestal with some of the greatest composers ever known.

If by play, you mean stand behind laptops during their "performance" then yes, they'll be playing at the Grammy's.

They are famous for cancelling at the last minute. I will believe it when they show up.

I always thought they were some kind of robots. You're telling me they are real people?
