George Strait promises 'one hell of an ending' to his tour
Singer announces the final dates and opening acts for his farewell tour
“It’s going to be one hell of an ending,” George Strait said this morning at a press conference announcing the dates for what will be the final leg of his touring career. Strait was at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, to make the announcement, which also included a list of his opening acts for the 2014 leg of his The Cowboy Rides Away Tour.
Strait will visit 26 cities next winter and spring (see dates and venues below), wrapping the tour on a still unannounced date at AT&T Stadium. He will frequently rotate his opening acts, which will include: Jason Aldean, Eric Church, Sheryl Crow, Ronnie Dunn, Vince Gill, Merle Haggard, Miranda Lambert, Little Big Town, Martina McBride, Lee Ann Womack, Chris Young and others to be announced.
At the press conference, Strait said the roster of support acts is a mixture of artists like Church that he’s never worked with before, and “others we’ve worked with through the years and wanted get together [with] one more time and do a final blastoff.” Artists like Aldean were chosen, he said, because “We wanted to get some guys that are really relevant now to come out.”
While he’s wrapping up the touring end of his career, Strait will continue to make new music. His longtime record label, MCA Nashville, recently announced that it had signed Strait up for five more albums. He will also continue to play isolated dates around the country following the completion of the tour, it was revealed today.
Strait fan club members can purchase tickets during a pre-sale period beginning at 10 a.m. in each venue’s respective time zone on Sept. 24. American Express card members can also purchase tickets before the general public. Tickets will be available to the general public beginning Sept. 27 at 10:00 a.m. in select markets at georgestrait.com.

I would love to see the man live, but I just checked the prices -- 149.00 to 2350.00...
Saw George in Paso Robles, California what a performer sure hope to snag a ticket to his last tour.
Great singer/songwriter you go George.
"It all started back in 1981". Silver Saddle Saloon, Albany Georgia. I've been a fan every since and to every concert in Georgia and Florida and surrounding states. Love me some George!!!!
George is the Last of the True Country Artist ....
I played in a band back in Texas in the days (70s) Before George became George, he played all over the Hill Country and South Texas ... been a long time and a lot of Good "Country Music"
Still see him in Rockport or off I10 gassing up his truck on occasion ... BTW, George is one of the VERY few country singers who were and are REAL Country (Ranch) people.
George Strait has always been a gracious and well dressed singer. He will be greatly missed on tours. Good luck to him and his retirement to spend time with family.
no florida dates?????? we did the Straitfest every year that he came to west central florida and now at the end NO FLORIDA DATES? I'm so disappointed. This country is STRAIT country and we did fill our stadiums and show our support ....... please consider us here in the Tampa Bay area.
