Unfinished business: Geezer rock
How did the over-50 crowd do last year?

We've already told you what MSN Music has picked as the best albums of 2012. The web site Rock's Back Pages commissioned its critics to come up with a different list - the best albums of the year, but only counting those made by musicians age 50 or (sometimes much) older. Shockingly, that group now includes Husker Du's Bob Mould, John Lydon, Patti Smith, Aimee Mann and others you wouldn't necessarily lump in with, say, The Rolling Stones. The results are in, with some predictable outcomes (Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen placing very high) and some refreshing ones (like the MSN poll, Loudon Wainwright III's dark, brilliant "Older Than My Old Man Now" made a respectable showing).
