The annual flesh parade known as the Video Music Awards has officially begun with the announcement of this year's nominees. The suspects can best be described as "usual," including Katy Perry, Rihanna, Drake, Justin Bieber, Kanye West, Nicki Minaj, Coldplay, and Jack White all well represented. Newcomers Frank Ocean, Carly Rae Jepsen, and Gotye hardly count as surprises (nice to see Childish Gambino up for Best Hip-Hop Video, though), but still, you can't argue with their inclusion. The show is scheduled to air on September 6, featuring performances from Alicia Keys and Best New Artist nominee One Direction.
