Last call for Queen Extravaganza

This has been fun -- not only for Queen fans, but for us.

Queen Extravaganza, the officially sanctioned tribute band put together personally by Brian May and Roger Taylor, has been criss-crossing the U.S. and Canada reproducing Queen classics and sending fans into a tizzy. We've  sent dozens of fans to shows, we’ve given away complete sets of the band’s music, plus box sets to the grand prize winner. And all ticket-winners from here on out get a meet-and-greet with the band as well.

How good is this? How fun is it? We'll let Taylor give you the answer from an interview he did with MSN earlier this year:

"I sometimes wonder how there were only four of us before we had a keyboard player. That was later on in the ‘80s. So we did the first ten years of our career with just the four of us, no additions, you know the technology wasn’t there. So what we were - we were relying on stripped down versions, adrenalized versions of our songs and our own personalities. Of course Freddie (Mercury) had an awful lot of that, but with this band of course there are nine people on stage and what we are attempting to do, we are attempting for instance 'Bohemian Rhapsody' will be performed in its entirety. So we will be able to do what we couldn’t do before, all harmonies, all the little tricky parts that we put on to the records. So this will give us the tools and - to do that. We have tremendous vocal power in this band and of course the vocals were a very large part of what Queen did…. I’m just trying to get the spirit of the band. Everybody in the Extravaganza has a tremendous knowledge of our body of work. They are absolute Queen aficionados and I think some of the times they seem to remember things I’ve forgotten.  So it’s an absolute pleasure in that sense. I’m trying to really invoke the spirit of a Queen show and make it as accurate as we can but obviously with the extra adrenaline of a live performance."
