Yvonne Strahovski returning to 'Dexter'

Does Hannah's return mean a happy ending for everyone's favorite serial killer?

Bing: More on Yvonne Strahovski | 'Dexter'

Yvonne Strahovski, who played Hannah McKay for ten episodes so far, is returning to the show for its eighth (and reportedly final) season. When we last saw the killer florist, she'd given Dexter a bloody good kiss, made her escape from prison, and Dexter had bid her good riddance.

But with Hannah back on the scene, we smell romance. Or maybe is that blood? Either way, Strahovski's return -- for another multiple-episode arc -- should make things really interesting. After all, she did try to kill his sister Deb, and that crime landed her in prison. Then she left that creepy black orchid at his door, which we can only interpret as so-not-an-apology. Could Dex be next?
"Ah, that's the big question isn't it?" Strahovski tweeted yesterday during a chat about the show. "What are Hannah's true intentions? We will just have to wait and seeeeeeee. She is coming back to shake things up for Dexter a little ... just to add to the turmoil."

And if this season does mark the end of the show, it seems Strahovski isn't necessarily opposed to taking Hannah on the road. "Re: spin-off," she wrote during the Twitter chat, "who knows? It's all day by day, case by case.

Season 8 of "Dexter" begins Sunday, June 30, at 10 p.m. ET/PT on Showtime.

Poor Dex. These women just wont leave him alone. The only female thats ever been honest with him is his sister. If only Deb would stop using the F word. Go back and watch the pilot, I dont think she used it once. Some idiot producer must have thought it would make her seem more manly. Hopefully this years episodes are as good or better than the previous ones.

Never seen the show, but her voice-over as the genetically-modified super-soldier Miranda Lawson in the Mass Effect video games gives me more than one reason to enjoy self-induced carpal tunnel syndrome.

Hum....after reading all the comments posted....what if Deb ends up killing Dexter?

Chuck will kick Dexter's **** if he tries anything.

Maybe Dex and Hannah will be filming the final episode at a plastic wrap factory and get caught and trapped in a production role of plastic and suffocate. Final scene, both gasping for breath and Dex gives the camera the finger.
Anti-heros like dex have to end badly, its more satisfying. Just like Walter White from Breaking Bad, Don from Mad Men, as much as I've enjoyed the drama of all three shows, the best ending would be to see them meet tragicly fitting ends.

I don't like Hannah for him because he could NEVER trust her - she could decide at any time to hurt him or his loved ones. I don't see Dex living in prison. And i just think there will always be a question about how his son turns out.  I think he may have to decide to skip out - for the well-being of his loved ones-and continue in his ways far away.  Ideally Deb would raise his son. But she would never be sure how he would turn out...

I agree..Deb can't survive...but my perfect ending is Dexter boarding a plane for south America and Hannah..they belong together

The more I think about it, the more I feel that, for a sufficiently proper and exciting, powerful ending to the Dexter story, Deb has to die. It just has to happen.

Dexter cannot be killed...or incarcerated...hello? Can you say movie? or even ocassional specials? Dexter is too good for them to catch AND I need to have hope that the show will be back someday. (sob, tears falling). Let him settle down and continue to "take care" of deserving people until they return......please!!!! And don't you dare kill Deb! She's all that Dex has left and she keeps him grounded!!  I love, love, love Dexter and hate, hate, hate that it is going off........don't kill my hope too!

The show peaked in season 4 and never lived up to its potential. The last 3 seasons have been HORRIBLE, just terrible writing.

Although I have nothing against Hannah, I'm still drawn to Julia Stiles' haunting character, Lumen, of a few seasons ago..  Memorable and endearing, I keep hoping for even a single episode return.  There was a bittersweet chemistry between them, something I never saw with Dex and Rita, or Dex and Hannah, and I was sorry to see it end.

I really hope that they end it with Dexter's end (not necessarily death, but incarcration, whatever), and do it with Dexter losing control and going on a non-principled killing spree... One reason I'd love to see a 9th season-- because doing something like that would require a full season of Dexter leaving a trail of blood and mayhem, complete with intense scenes of the Mighty Dexter coming ever increasingly unglued.  Maybe the catalyst would be Deb being killed in some grisly manner, leaving Dexter alone and completely disconnected.

It's truly the only way this awesome psychological thriller of a series and a character like Dexter could go out in a blaze of blood and glory that would leave viewers tingling all over, instead of disappointed about some weak, cheesy "good bye" and "everybody lives happily ever after" end that so many good series wind up with.
