Adam Levine lashes out at 'Honey Boo Boo'
'Voice' judge says TLC show signifies the 'decay of Western civilization'
By Kenny Herzog Dec 3, 2012 10:05AM
In case you couldn't tell by "Voice" judge Adam Levine's super-edgy tattoos, purposefully distressed T-shirts and regular appearances on "American Horror Story," the Maroon 5 front man isn't merely a pretty face on primetime TV -- he's a rebel. And rebels say awesomely profane things about a 7-year-old reality star's family in swanky men's publications. Us reports that while giving an interview with GQ magazine, Levine referred to TLC's juggernaut, "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo," as signifying the "decay of Western civilization." (And here we thought that arrived with Christina Aguilera's recent wardrobe choices.) The Jagger-moving musician and actor also clarified that he feels "Honey Boo Boo" demonstrates "complete f---ing ignorance and the most despicable way to treat your kids. F--- those people ... They're just the worst. Sorry, I'm so sensitive to that. Like, I don't know, man, it's upsetting."
There's been no response yet from the Thompson/Shannon camp, but if Mama June's vitriol toward "South Park" is any indication, Levine won't get away with his criticism scot-free. Which is probably OK with him, since he's such a fearless provocateur and all. (Sarcasm heavily intended.)
"The Voice" airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.

She's "harmless"? People are letting their children watch this trash. What kind of message does that send? Let your kids act like trash and they may get a show, if they are trashy enough to satisfy the sadstic and moronic side of society? I can't believe you even defend this crap. And anyone who thinks this child could EVER be a "Beauty Queen" is out of their mind! The ladies who compete are talented, beautiful ladies who have achieved goals, maintained grades for scholarships, committed themselves to Community Service acts...and you are defending this little child being raised as a trashy person? Shame on you.

Ack! "Reality"" shows give me the hives! If you want to watch a "reality show", at least go to something useful, like people who actually HELP other people, or people who are really trying to prove themselves...not the nut job reality shows that depict all of the worst you can possibly see./be. Or FUN ones, like Mythbusters, or Dirty Jobs (which has been cancelled). I'll admit, I rarely watch reality shows, but Mythbusters is fun. And I've caught some shows (on occasion) where they did a makeover on a house/room...They were the kind of things you tune-in as "filler" because there isn't anything else...but I won't watch trash.

Lets start being intolerant and start killing people we dont like. After all, we are superior than these rednecks. Lets kill fat people, Adams gay brother and the rest of his kind that spread AIDS and boost our health insurance. Then we can kills jews. We can have a world filled with hipster douchebags like Adam, a superior race of unintelligent self serving reality stars that judge people on a copy of Star Search.
What comes around goes around. Intolerance and hate of the Hitler regime ( who was loved by the progressive media in the days before WWII) has sprung up again the form of the ignorant far left hipster douchebag.

Adam was harsh, but I agree with him wholeheartedly. America just keeps rewarding those who exhibit terrible behavior. 8 years old and rude -- you get money and a show; 16 years old and pregnant -- you get money and a show; 23 and drunk in clubs and on beaches while wearing no panties -- you get to live in a beach house and get money and a show. We are all to blame for the filth that is on television. And, the worst part of it all, is that we're teaching our children that this is an acceptable way to live. Pride and self-respect mean nothing as long as you're getting paid. There is a way to stop it, but, folks just won't stop watching. Boring as they may seem now, give me the Brady's or the Cosby's any day. As for reality shows, I'll watch Survivor, Amazing Race, or Dancing with the Stars. With these show, I laugh, I learn, but best of all, I don't feel like I need to take a shower afterwards.

He is SO right! This is a despicable show. I've never watched it, but I read things and I hear what I'm told. And the funniest joke I've heard was that a guy tuned into Honey Boo Boo for 5 minutes and his college called to revoke his diploma (LOL!). I've seen too many Season One shows that are really good and get cancelled...for what? Trash like this, and those nasty comic sit-coms? I think we're reverting back to the Neanderthal days, I.Q.-wise. I cannot stand so much of this trash...what is wrong with people, that they actually Watch this stuff? It isn't entertaining or amusing, it's revolting. I've always been extremely open/broad minded, but there comes a point when you have to consider quality/taste over quantity/crudity. And apparently Networks and our viewers choose the latter (sad to say). At least I've always tried to watch things that actually stimulate the brain, not deaden it. Levine is right, our Western civilization is in a definite decline.

I guess Levine was WAY OFF that exploitation of children is a bad thing. I mean if the Walmart clan is doing it and it's funny, it can't be bad.
Yup, he's the bad guy. A big thank you to the author of this fine article for standing up to the frontman of Maroon 5. A big threat is no more..He'll now know to keep his ridiculous opinions to himself.

I'm not a fan of Adam Levine, Maroon 5 OR the show The Voice BUT Adam is right. All this show does is exploit this little girl. "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo" has no redeeming qualities whatsoever. It's only accomplishment has been broadcasting to the rest of the world how many more IQ points this country has slipped. How have we gone from a country that glorified it's greatest thinkers, actors and leaders to "Jersey Shore" and "Honey Boo Boo" NOW you know one of the reasons the world no longer takes us seriously. They look at us and say "Wow they went from Edison and Tesla to Mama June and Snooky" I swear if the new Star Wars movies feature Honey Boo Boo Fett and June The Hutt I will not be buying a ticket nor the DVD
