Slurs incite new war between 'Celebrity Apprentice' contestants

NBCLisa Lampanelli is drawing fire for wisecracks she made during a radio broadcast last month about fellow "Celebrity Apprentice" contestant Dayana Mendoza. (Although Lampanelli and Mendoza played nice together on Sunday's show, it's apparent from the coming attractions that they soon get back to the business of hating on one another.)

"I actually would love to see her giving birth," the queen of mean said on Howard Stern's auxiliary Sirius Satellite Radio channel. "She’s a spic! She’s going to do it f---ing soon, anyway. She’ll be knocked up before the end of the week.”


Mendoza, a former Miss Universe, replied via E! News: "As an individual, I'm resilient and can handle Lisa making fun of me personally. But as a Latina, Lisa's words aren't just offensive to me, but to millions of other individuals. To be generalized by stereotypes and called a 'spic' degrades and belittles anyone of Latin descent."


The problem here is that Lampanelli is now juggling two public personas. On stage, her act is one long racial slur from beginning to end.  It's funny because it's so grossly wrong.

Yet on "Celebrity Apprentice" -- the vehicle she chose for her introduction to most of America -- Lampanelli casts herself as a compassionate defender of political correctness. (So far, she has railed against Arsenio Hall for sexist language, and Lou Ferrigno for threatening her with violence).

No one gets to have it both ways.

"Celebrity Apprentice" airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.

It's funny because it's true, all stereotypes have an ounce or maybe more of truth to them, she should have added asian's to the group of knocked up/number of ppl per family, would have been funnier.  People need to relax, laugh at yourself, your religion, your race whatever.  Tired of all you whiny PC ****'s.

Oh this is such a good point, to blatantly call Dayana "Evita" & constantly mention "Don't cry for me Argentina" when she's from Venezuela?? Like get a clue, whoever you are pock-marked bulldog-sagbag barking junkyard poor excuse for a Guida. You might be able to talk over people, quickly bark out to cover your wicked ways, or write as much as you think you can, you can even build a castle as amazing & elegant...fit for the wickedest stepmother & hoghole stepsisters, but if there ain't a genuine spark of warmth or humanity there, who the hell wants to live there let alone dwell there anyway??!!

This is the major difference between this "commedienne"& Kathy Griffith. At least Kathy's got style & some hints of humanity, not just >ROAR! ROAR! ROAR!< like some hypocritical fat head full of her own hogholio bore. And it's like, break Aubrey's fingernail (let alone her heart, spirits) & hogholio is firing up at the steam nostrils again, ready to defend to the death. If that ain't evil (one stepsister) attracting evil (another stepsister) woof, & then Terese thinks these ladies like them[?] Debbie Gibson thought they liked them, when they'd slice their throats out & stomp them into ground sausage if it meant gaining another advantage for themselves - they're clever enough to "play the game" & fool REAL CELEBRITIES, that is about all I'd give 'em...

I used to think Why can't these other contestants (Cheryl Tiegs, Tia Carrera) speak up & defend themselves better? Now I see if all of society were that way, holy smokes, it would be way too exhausting & nauseating. They are not just full of themselves, but these are your real "Bulls in a China shop" - would love to see Arsenio, Clay, or even Dayana win, real Grace (class) triumph over Fire (rabbid hogholes).

i hope lisa wins this show.....   dayana is just there for 'the donald's eye candy'.   she's stupid and still cant speak english so that anyone can understand.  at least when lisa speaks, she makes herself very clear.  her ideas are well thought out and she speaks precisely.  she doesn't have to keep explaining herself, and she doesn't spend the entire task wining.....

i hate watching 'the donald' tripping over his dirty old man tongue......  fire baby dayana!!!!!!

I have been watch the apprentice and Lisa and Aubrey are both bitches.   They both act like they are the only ones worth anything and they stab anyone in the back they can.  They better both wear body armor if they are the last ones standing.  I wouldn't trust either one as far as I can throw my house.  And they have both treated Ms. Mendoza like crap since the show started.

I had never heard of this Lisa person before catching an episode of Apprentice and thanks to her and that redheaded one (also never heard of her), I won't watch again this season.  I'm surprised how many people here are defending someone who sounds so ignorant and hateful.  Or maybe not - seems to be the new national pasttime.

Lisa Lampinelli is such a nasty and negative person. She is just jealous of Diana and it's so nice to see Diana take the high road and let Lisa hang herself.

 

To refer to Diana and Lou as F-ing losers and to put herself above them was just disgusting to watch. She is a hypocrite and has way too high of an opinion of herself.

 

I hope Diana takes the entire competition and wins celebrity apprentice. She is such a sweet and positive person.

I don't watch "The Apprentice," either, but Ms. Mendoza sounds as if she's not even in touch with any aspects of pop culture, much less TV.  Lisa Lampanelli's claim to fame as a comedienne and the "Queen of Mean" is acerbic comedy at the expense of anyone for any reason, including lines aimed at racial stereotypes across the board.  Lampanelli takes no prisoners, and doesn't suffer fools gladly, a pit which Mendoza seems to have fallen into rather easily.  If anyone finds Lampanelli's laugh-out-loud schtick offensive, then they need to sit further back in the auditorium so they can't hear what she's saying, and let those of us who love Lampanelli get as close as we can to that face when she rips everyone a new one along the way in her act.

I don't watch the Apprentice, but I love Lisa Lampanelli's comedy. The racial comments were not made on the Apprentice, they were made on the Howard Stern show. Obviously this was her comic persona speaking, and it should be taken as such. Ms Mendoza needs to get a clue and get over being "offended" by obvious comedic  satire.

No, the toxic "****" is not only an insult to Latinos/Latinas but to all humankind.    For, lo, any degradation toward one is a degradation to all.  After all, it is written that we're made in His image, isn't it?  Put this foul term in the dumpster along with "mayate/mayata," "****/coon, etc.," "mic," "dago," "kike," ad indefinitum.  Sad to say, but unfortunately, the epithet has been so institutionalized from Mississippi to Ivy League as to be as American as apple pie.   That's why we as a nation are slow to recognize racism even when it strikes us personally.  Mournfully!!!

I can understand that this is the type of comedy that she does, but she's not in a comedy club or doing a roast in CC.  There is a time and a place for everything and if she said those things in that show I don't take it as an act, I take it as offensive.

What she says on the Comedy Central roasts as they say stays at the roasts, and same thing with Howards program.but if she said these things on the apprentice, that is wrong.

Shameful behavior this season. Not just Lisa, But Arsenio, and Lou also. However, Arsenio appologized and and I don't believe he or Lou are mean spirited people.  Lisa needs to learn a big lesson from this and i hope that after this her former fans will help her by boycotting her. Her conduct from the begining was a little suspect toward the 2 hispanic women. A nd drawing others into her hate was sad. I think she people like her remind me of many of the prejudices displayed by the "Good Old Boys", of the south many yrs ago. She has some influence over people , wether she thinks so or not. She needs to be more thoughtful. Especially for someone who is the smartest person on the Apprentice. (if i made any errors forgive me, i'm not a writer and don't profess to be so smart). Although , i am willing to learn! LO
