Slurs incite new war between 'Celebrity Apprentice' contestants

NBCLisa Lampanelli is drawing fire for wisecracks she made during a radio broadcast last month about fellow "Celebrity Apprentice" contestant Dayana Mendoza. (Although Lampanelli and Mendoza played nice together on Sunday's show, it's apparent from the coming attractions that they soon get back to the business of hating on one another.)

"I actually would love to see her giving birth," the queen of mean said on Howard Stern's auxiliary Sirius Satellite Radio channel. "She’s a spic! She’s going to do it f---ing soon, anyway. She’ll be knocked up before the end of the week.”


Mendoza, a former Miss Universe, replied via E! News: "As an individual, I'm resilient and can handle Lisa making fun of me personally. But as a Latina, Lisa's words aren't just offensive to me, but to millions of other individuals. To be generalized by stereotypes and called a 'spic' degrades and belittles anyone of Latin descent."


The problem here is that Lampanelli is now juggling two public personas. On stage, her act is one long racial slur from beginning to end.  It's funny because it's so grossly wrong.

Yet on "Celebrity Apprentice" -- the vehicle she chose for her introduction to most of America -- Lampanelli casts herself as a compassionate defender of political correctness. (So far, she has railed against Arsenio Hall for sexist language, and Lou Ferrigno for threatening her with violence).

No one gets to have it both ways.

"Celebrity Apprentice" airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.

First of all daz55, it's Lampanelli, not Lampinelli. Second, her humor is no more offensive than Don Rickles, a comedy legend for more than 50 years. Does he assault Jews, blacks, and virtually every other race, creed and color. While Ms. Mendoza may find the act offensive, no one is forcing her to go to see Lampanelli's act. It's obvious from watching celebrity apprentice that Lampanelli is a smart, caring individual who has legions of fans that appreciate her work for what it is - comedy. I've seen people of all races laughing until they're in tears while getting skewered by Lampanelli and Rickles both. They certainly didn't seem to take offense. And neither, my dear, should you or Ms. Mendoza.

i hope lisa wins this show.....   dayana is just there for 'the donald's eye candy'.   she's stupid and still cant speak english so that anyone can understand.  at least when lisa speaks, she makes herself very clear.  her ideas are well thought out and she speaks precisely.  she doesn't have to keep explaining herself, and she doesn't spend the entire task wining.....

i hate watching 'the donald' tripping over his dirty old man tongue......  fire baby dayana!!!!!!

Oh come on.  If you don't get what she's doing, don't watch the show!  She is the first to say that she is a "dirty comic."  Get over yourself.  There has not been one season of Apprentice that hasn't had a celebrity who is over the top.  Please....don't be a prude.  Change the channel.  If you can't wait for her to be fired, maybe you need a hobby.

I don't watch the Apprentice, but I love Lisa Lampanelli's comedy. The racial comments were not made on the Apprentice, they were made on the Howard Stern show. Obviously this was her comic persona speaking, and it should be taken as such. Ms Mendoza needs to get a clue and get over being "offended" by obvious comedic  satire.

I don't watch "The Apprentice," either, but Ms. Mendoza sounds as if she's not even in touch with any aspects of pop culture, much less TV.  Lisa Lampanelli's claim to fame as a comedienne and the "Queen of Mean" is acerbic comedy at the expense of anyone for any reason, including lines aimed at racial stereotypes across the board.  Lampanelli takes no prisoners, and doesn't suffer fools gladly, a pit which Mendoza seems to have fallen into rather easily.  If anyone finds Lampanelli's laugh-out-loud schtick offensive, then they need to sit further back in the auditorium so they can't hear what she's saying, and let those of us who love Lampanelli get as close as we can to that face when she rips everyone a new one along the way in her act.

It's funny because it's true, all stereotypes have an ounce or maybe more of truth to them, she should have added asian's to the group of knocked up/number of ppl per family, would have been funnier.  People need to relax, laugh at yourself, your religion, your race whatever.  Tired of all you whiny PC ****'s.

There is a difference between Lisa's "politically incorrect jokes" and Arsenio Hall's misogynistic tirade against Aubrey O'Day.  I am personally not a fan of Lisa's style of comedy but it is very clear that she truly is not meaning any ill will towards other cultures, she is showing the absurdity of racial stereotypes.   She insults everyone, including herself!  Arsenio's tirade was showing his true colors as a misogynistic creep who does not consider women as equals and who resorts to calling someone a bitch and whore simply because it shows their inferiority.  He was livid that a woman did not keep her place and actually spoke up and his only way to belittle her was to attack her simply for having a vagina by calling her a whore and bitch.  Attack her abilities on the show all you want, but keep the vagina out of it!  I lost all respoect for Arsenio, which is sad since I used to adore his tv show.  Thank god that is over so I do not have to worry about that.

Most importantly, Arsenio has been so out of line along with his BFF Clay.

Aubrey won that money for her team's charity, she did all the work and had ALL the ideas! Her team whined about her instead of thanking her.

It appears she is controlling because nobody else EVER has any input!!

I'm surprised Trump allowed Arsenio to be so cruel to Aubrey.

Lisa is annoying, she never stops putting others down.

Her, O'Donnell, Griffin and Silverman are terrible comedians.

Lisa is an old, washed up, jealous hag.  When asked what a latin puppet would say, all she could come up with was "ay papi".  She's jealous of Dayana and she doesn't hide it.  Calling her a bitch and a ****?  She may as well have called Arsenio a N....  I can't stand her.  Her only talent is to use foul language.  What a horrible, miserable person she is.  I would never spend a dime to go see this shrew!

Lisa goes too far with her tirades and bullying.  Aubrey does too, but both can be funny at times.  They are very bright, but have such high opinions of themselves, that it is offsetting.

I can't see either of them winning, but it makes for good TV.  Think that is what is going on here.  The same goes for Arsenio, who went over the top with his hissy fit, and it appeared staged.  However, I have seen him do nothing else of note at all, so maybe, this is why his moment stays in my mind.  I am also suspicious that the Jay Leno blank check coming in late, was on purpose.  He seems to be favored by Trumps, and I won't be surprised if he saves that check for the final task!
Surprisingly, the best player for me on either team is Clay Aiken.  He is very intelligent and  witty,  seems to be writing all the scripts, is the voice of reason amidst all the screaming and turmoil, and I would hire him!   No one else comes close.

Lisa gets paid to talk and act the way she wants, and bully other people? When the world is trying to help young people when they face bullies, and the biggest one of all thinks she 'is it'? On the episode of Celebrity Apprentice, where Lisa makes comments about Dayana 'in her head', I would have slammed on the brakes of the car, told her to get out, you're fired!

I hope Lisa is 'fired' real soon, it's sure gonna take Donald Trump to put her in her place. hhmmm, maybe that's his plan, to give her a 'stage' only to 'upstage' her....mmmmwwwahhhaa​ahahaha. ;)

I am sooooooooo fed up with all these reality shows that just leave you bored and angry after watching them. There is sooo much chaos on these shows anymore that you sit there and just end up soooooooo angry and you NEVER ENJOY what you just watched! Now Trump is obviously trying to get attention by running his show the same way. They probably told Lisa she could be any kind of bitch she wanted to be as long as she acted BAD!!! When are we going to get back to producing GOOD SHOWS??? REAL GOOD SHOWS that are ENJOYING TO WATCH????????????
