Britney on Carly Rose: 'She reminds me a lot of me'

Pop diva believes her 'X Factor' contestant Sonenclar is destined for stardom

Britney Spears has grown close to her "X Factor" contestant Carly Rose Sonenclar, because she reminds her a lot of herself as a young artist. The pop diva's last singer standing in the competition is a 13-year-old powerhouse, who has continued to win over the judges and the viewers week after week.

And now that Sonenclar is one of the clear front-runners, Spears believes the timid yet strong teen is destined to be a star -- just like her. Spears tells Zap2it, "The way Carly Rose is kind of shy and then she gets on stage ... and it's an insane voice. When I was younger, she reminds me a lot of me."

She also insists that, in addition to her spectacular voice, Sonenclar has what the show is all about: the X factor. Spears adds, "Her personality ... She's so cool. Like Simon (Cowell) said about her the other night, she has this demeanor. She really gets it. She understands the business and that's what you also need on top of being talented. I think that's her best quality." Sonenclar faces off again the rest of the top four acts on Wednesday's semifinals.

 

"The X Factor" airs Wednesdays and Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on FOX.

HaHa, people are so laughably uniformed. Do a youtube search for Britney Star Search to see her singing when she was younger.  Most of her songs have been recorded in a voice that is not her natural register i.e. the "baby voice" which is why it's next to impossible for her to sing them live, especially when moving around which she is most of the time.

Britney has always been a shy girl but would come alive on the stage when it was time to perform. Carly is a Shy girl but comes alive with her incredible voice on stage.  Britney has a good distinct voice but it was the complete package that came a live on stage. She and Carly are different types of artist but they knew when to deliver and were very driven teens.  Everybody who worked on the MMC would tell you that they just knew that Britney would be a star. She had talent and drive. Very similar to Carly. That is what Britney meant. Carly is star.

Carly Rose does not need a mentor....she doesn't need someone telling her how to sing, how to move while singing or how to dress and wear her hair....she was a class act the moment she walked out on the stage and we all saw it.  She deserves to win.  Tate is very good but no comparison to Carly, he sounds like any other country singer and he will have a career even coming in second.

I think that Britney has really turned herself around. I think she has done a great job getting her life back on track. But there is no comparison with Carleys voice, Britney was auto tuned and is not that great live. Carley is beyond talented and can blow Britney out of the water. Nothing against Britney, just the truth.

Britney is an amazing artist and she's so talented.. maybe she can't sing like Carly (this girl is blessed) but she's a superstar and she's done an amazing job menthoring Carly (not with her voice but making her a star) She has to win! She's the best in the show!

I don't see why a lot of the comments below are against Britney. If she is as abad as how all of you said, she won't be as successful and adored by so many people now. She change because of all of you haters. And Carly you are amazing. No doubt you will have a good future ahead and maybe you will be the first person to get first but at the same time become famous :D

I think that Britney has done a wonderful job mentoring carly. I dont understand why people would put her down, she was young when she started, her problem was her parents didnt try to keep her grounded and let her lose sight of herself, I think she has grown alot in the past couple years and deserves to be thought of a human being that made mistakes like we all have. , I hope carly wins it all

Please Britney! She is 100x's better than you were when you were her age, and even at your age now! You should never compare yourself to someone as talented as Carly! You don't have "ANY" versatility, and she has a monumental amount!

Love carly rose, I think she has a great shot at winning! Her voice is amazing, definitely rooting for her! Carly definitely has the better voice than britney, she can thank the autotune. Hope the winner comes down to either carly or fifth harmony, I adore them!

You all know she meant when she was younger right?  Britney was talented when she was little and had the drive for stardom (star search,and mmc).

I absolutely love Carly Rose.  And I think Britney has done a wonderful job as her mentor and I think she (Britney) is absolutely beautiful and talented.  I am wishing all the luck in the world for Carly and want so badly for her to win it all!  I just need to make a comment on the hosts of the show.  Khloe has GOT to go.   Her remarks are insensitive and disingenuous.  Anyone else agree on Khloe being replaced?

Pretty fuuny how Britney is a manufactured "artist" and this other girl is just a great singer.  Britney is still medicated.
