Nicki Minaj questions her tough critiques on 'Idol'
Newest judge wonders if some of her comments were too harsh to hopefuls

New "American Idol" judge Nicki Minaj has concerns over her harsh critiques for this season's singing hopefuls. The "Super Bass" hitmaker has had plenty of time to practice both lifting up and bringing down "Idol" contestants after recently wrapping the multi-city callback auditions. She told "Idol" host Ryan Seacrest on his radio show on Monday that, after looking back at the footage, she wonders whether some of her comments were too harsh.

Minaj admitted, "I'm scared! Maybe I should have been so ... it's hard for me to not say how I really feel. I'm having a hard time with how honest I am sometimes. Everyone else is so nice. I was just thinking back about some things, and thinking, 'I wonder if that was not nice.'"

In the latest promos for the show, Minaj can be seen doling out some rather biting remarks, much like former mean judge Simon Cowell. But that doesn't mean she's going to stop telling contestants the truth. She explained, "As an artist, I've always grown more from the tougher criticism. I would like to be that person and to try to give people that thick skin and really give it their all. It is a competition." The Season 12 live shows will air early next year.
"American Idol" returns in January 2013 on FOX.
American Idol upper mangement loves this trumped up publicity. They should cancel the show. Niki Minaj has along way to go to even be in the same sentence as Ms Carey or even Mr Tyler. When desperate, the attention deprived always play the 'race' card because they believe it will always get them more attention, (good for the show) and of course in this weak minded era of the "Gim-me Gim-me want-wants" and the "Me-me I I's" it works. It is now the way of our country.....just scream racist, law suit, sexual harrasment, boycott, overthrow, get hiim or her fired,,,,,,etc etc etc ....sad isnt it........Steven Tylor will get grief more than minaj.....its the way of the country ......'play the trump card'!
It gets TV shows more ratings......
I am a fan of rap, hip hop music BUT I don't find Minaj talented and on recent award shows I thought she was arrogant and classless. Idol is better than that!
J Lo and Tyler were fun on the show, great personalities and they were encouraging to the contestants. Both of them have plenty of experience and incredible stage presence!
Iovine was so boring and not needed last season.
Hoping Mariah can overcompensate for Minaj.
who really cares what this no talent hack has to offer or say. that is if she can even speak...heard her speak on the ama's and she sounded like she had S h i t in her mouth....or maybe it was something else?!?!
ai contestants...don't listen to a word she says....take only the advice of keith and mariah....the veterans with MUSIC CRED.....
