J.Lo: The Writing's on the Wall

'American Idol' judge drops clearest hint yet to 'Today'

Jennifer Lopez is practically coming out and saying it now: Next season, "American Idol" will have a J.Lo-size hole to fill.

Bing: More about 'American Idol'

Here's what she told "The Today Show's" Natalie Morales Thursday: "I love everybody. I love all the guys on the show. I love the family that’s there. Like I said, I’ve just enjoyed it so much. But I am thinking that maybe it’s time for me to go and do other things that I really love to do.”

However, she did add: "But then again, I really love the show, so…"

The "Idol" judge was promoting her new film "Ice Age: Continental Dirt" during a satellite interview.

In May, Lopez also told former "Idol" judge Ellen DeGeneres: "I don't know if I can go for a third year. I miss doing other things. It really does lock you down, which was nice the first year."

Internet speculation over who will man next season's judging table has run rampant this week, ranging from the credible (Adam Lambert) to the incredible (Charlie Sheen).

"American Idol" returns next winter on FOX.

I say Good Riddance. JL got a bit too full of herself on Idol, and seemed to use the show as a venue to promote her own songs.  Also, once America starts voting is not her place to implore people to vote for any one idol. I liked Jessica S., but was glad she lost only because I was tired of JL gushing over her every week. Others were very good as well. Actually I'm glad for the winner we had as Philip was talented, but so down to earth. This show is to promote young, unknown talent, not for the judges to perform so often . Once or twice for a special night is enough.

Jennifer is white, but the thing is, this is an English-speaking country and not bi-lingual like Canada. And you know what, maybe it would be refreshing to see some good young American white female singers judging and good-looking ones too. As the rich kid said in the syrup ad, just try it, sir. And to quote that other ad from long ago, try it, you'll like it! I could go on, but you get the point. And you know what, they can perform right there on the show.

Oh yea, I forgot one that was quite good...How about the most beautiful lady in the world? Everybody is entitled to their opionion, but give this woman some credit!! She's one hell of a good singer, dancer, mother,  and again, she is beautiful just as they said.

You all are friggin crazy by saying that Jennifer was lucky to have the job,  and basically that she was in a stooper. Good god, are you not paying attention??? This woman has it all! Music, her latino show,  clothing line, perfume line, make up,  Shall I continue?  Oh hell....they were lucky to have her. NOT her lucky to have them. Is anybody just a bit envious out there? And who the hell cares who she is dating. Mind ya damn business. Her children are well taken care of and she is happy. Geeez, what a bunch of wanna be critics.  LMAO at these people!!

The whole crew just about "wrecked" Idol last year.  They "picked" on the poor girl from McKinney, Tx  and she had a good voice.  It would be refreshing to have Adam Lambert, Katy Perry (star factor) and someone else from the record industry.  But Randy Jackson just got "old and tired".  JoLo brought her career around because of Idol.  Now she dresses like she's 21 and dating 21 year olds and acting foolish!   Steven Tyler started out great but was worn out by the end of the season.

If they don't make a "wholesale" change, I will not watch Idol again.  I even quit watching when they votedoff  the blond girl from McKinney, Tx.  It was very obvious that all of the judges were against her.  She was very "professional" for taking their criticism every week knowing they were against her.

Change is good.  Let's see if Idol can come back to life amidst all of the new "singing" shows.

It doesn't really matter.  The show has run its course and will likely be dropped within one or two more seasons.

Never could think she was a good or great judge!  She appeared to be lucky to have the job, if Salena did not get shot would we even know who she is?

I like Jennifer the actress not the Idol judge. At first I enjoyed her candidness but that wore off when she took charge and tried to sway voters!   Charlie Scheen as judge?...will not watch!

Without "American Idol," Jennifer Lopez's career would be in the doldrums, which is where it was before she joined the show as a judge.  Her movies were dismal and making no money at the box office.  Her music career had stalled out.  J.Lo got a lift from "American Idol," so this "hint" that she's leaving only presages that she likely won't be back, unless producers shell out enough money to ensure her return.  She's not worth it.  Bring a new voice in, someone's who actually can judge talent, which Jennifer Lopez is clearly not qualified.  Bye Bye J. Lo.

If her and Randy leave it would really help the show a lot. I would like to see someone who actually are talented enough to make such judgements.
