I sure hope Ryan Seacrest is feeling better! The show just isn't the same when he half-asses it (or would his illness reduce it to quarter-assing?). He certainly looks recovered.

Before things move forward, "The Queen Extravaganza," hand-picked by Brian May and Roger Taylor themselves, performs "Somebody to Love." I remember hearing about this, and everyone talking about how much this guy looks and sounds like Freddie Mercury. I'm all about that sassy guitar player, though.

I enjoyed this performance very much. I will never get tired of seeing Roger Taylor and Brian May bust out on stage. They are just the coolest! Everybody else, go home.

Ryan tells us it's hard for the contestants because "their bond is working like magic," and they sing that darned "I've Got the Magic in Me" song that I swear has been covered on a Ford Music Video every single year and maybe twice this year. Don't applaud for that, audience. It does not merit applause. Hollie looks amazing tonight!

And now, the "American Idol" contestants go to TMZ, which tends to be a segment I enjoy. Skylar is just so adorable. It turns out there's a male strip club called "Mantasia." No one had any solutions for Elise, who looks mad by default. Why was Nigel Lythgoe there, though? He must have invited himself.

Up first to the stage are Jessica and Elise. I'm glad we are getting Jimmy's thoughts again. I missed him last night. The playback showed Jessica's performance of "Bohemian Rhapsody" as better than I remembered it. The judges over-praising her was just how I remember it, though. Jimmy called "Bohemian Rhapsody" scary and "less Queen, more Stephen King." He is proud of himself. He thought "Dance With My Father" was clever and demonstrated a knowledge of rhetoric.

What did Jimmy think of Elise? He thinks she picked the wrong Queen song (What?! I thought it was great!) and thought it came off as "clubby." Jimmy thought "Bold as Love" was a bad choice because it's more of a performance piece for someone playing the guitar and singing. What did America think? One is safe. One is in the bottom. Jessica is safe. Elise goes back to her stool, which is still warm from her regular spot in the bottom three.

Look at Casey Abrams, future gnome!

Now look at Stefano Langone, who is looking more confident than ever before on that stage. Good for him! Can't say I care for the song, particularly the part that goes, "It's. The. Best. Night. Of. My. Life" all robot-like. He's dancing, though, which is something he didn't get to show off much on this show. He has improved as an artist, I think, and that makes me happy.

Hollie and Joshua are next. The friends! Hollie is more nervous than Joshua, probably. Who does Jimmy think should be more nervous, though? Jimmy thought Hollie did a good enough job with "Save Me" and thought "The Climb" was a great choice. There was an odd break before we looked at Joshua's highlights. Jimmy thought Joshua did a great job interpreting both songs and choosing them. Smart! "If Joshua gets voted off tonight, there is something wrong with the competition, the voting, the entire ball of wax," Jimmy says. What a dated expression.

Best friends. Who stays? Who goes? Hollie is in the bottom three. Joshua is safe. Jimmy will be relieved to know there's nothing wrong with this ball of wax.

Oh, goodness. Steven Tyler is in a Burger King commercial, immediately followed by Jennifer's Kohl's commercial. But where is Randy's commercial?

StevenBurgerKing.jpg

Now Katy Perry sings "Part of Me," and Steven Tyler enjoys another chicken tender becoming a part of him. She seems tired. Maybe she caught the Ryan Seacrest too-much-money flu.

Now it's down to Skylar and Phillip. I thought Skylar had a great night, but Phillip is a favorite! Let's see what Jimmy has to say. Jimmy thought her second song was a "little self-indulgent." Jimmy thought she got knocked out in Round 2. Phillip "Lady-killer" Phillips was divisive. Jimmy lets us in on a secret: Phillip was sick this week, too! His energy suffered as a result.

Skylar is in the bottom three. Phillip is safe, and Phillip will probably win this whole thing. Skylar is safe, though, so she heads back to the couches. Whew!

Ryan sends the four contestants who are safe back to their couch. They object, but Ryan is in charge. Elise is eliminated. It had to happen. She was great, but this just wasn't the right place for her. It's too bad that all these contestants have to see their moments play over a twangy Scotty McCreery tune. Goodbye, Elise. Get back with your band!

What do you think of Thursday night's results? Did America get it right?

"American Idol" airs Wednesdays and Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on FOX.

One more thing...sooooo sick of Randy and his "Yo". Grow up, Randy, you're not in high school anymore. And it's so disrespectful to keep calling Skylar "Dawg". Please...someone tell him he's not cool!

I will be glad when JLO goes home. She has contaminated the judges by outright rooting for one over the other. i can't imagine how the others felt in that display with the "Save".

They should have voted Joshua off not Elise, Joshua is soooo not the soul singer Randy keeps telling him is. They (the judges) need to start telling the man the truth that all that screaming is not singing and he is not the next Otis Redding. Please America send Joshua home, he should have been gone weeks ago and little Jessica can sing, she just needs to learn not to be so shy and stand up for her self.

Randy dude, you really need to step up and learn how to address the ladies, they are not dudes, dawgs or anything else, they are ladies and should be address as such. Dude, do you call your mother dude or dawg, I bet not, she might just hit you up side the head, and tell you to talk right.

Sorry everyone but America got it right. Elise should have been gone weeks ago. She's only done 1 song that fit her voice & style.  Joshua should have been gone by now also. His screaming thinking it's singing and the judges falling all over themselves praising him. COME ON! The judges are giving him way too much credit.

It is so embarrassing to watch the judges kiss Joshua **** and stagger over their hearing impaired selves to praise Jessica like they do.. OK, Elise needed to go, she wasn't fit for this kind of competition.. It just wasn't her style. But Joshua can't sing, they are going out of their way to insult Holly every week and try to make us think she is doing bad when she and Jessica are probably the 2 best. But they want a Joshua / Jessica final and they have made no secret of it. Phil Phillips sings the same every week, Bad Joe Cocker impersonator like Casey was last year but they still seem to try to keep him around but, since it is getting down to the last few they even gave him a bad score so it he didn't compare to Joshua and Jessica..  Those 2 can do no wrong.. I would like to know what the judges hear each week because I haven't agreed with them one time this season! If that Joshua wins it will just show how fixed the show is..  Just like Ryan Seacrest  all but telling us last year that James was going to be voted off the day before the results were even read off, votes weren't even in yet! Scotty McCreery winner? Really? Holly is my favorite and she keeps trying harder each week because the judges are screwing with her making her rethink herslf for no reason. J.Lo isn't someone who should be telling someone how to sing since she can't herslf!

I said to my husband last night,  Who is going to buy a Joshua record unless he turns himself into a Michael Buble?  He's got a gorgeous voice but after Idol..? Everytime they give him yet another standing ovation I get embarrassed for him.

At this point they are all so good!  How do you decide?  Each has there own style..sound.  Doesn't mean you can't beat them in record sales!  Those that are truely good...will go on..even if the winner is never heard from again... and that has happened!

I liked Elise from day one. She had a rock ,Bluesy ,growl to her voice. She is a great singer and was very original. Whole Lotte Love was great. Bold As Love just was not Bold enough to keep her in the competition. She will have a great career. She is a very talented singer.ROCK ON ELISE

Idol is not the show it was in the beginning. The judges show to much attention to the one they like the most. Which is so unfair to all the contestants. They are there to judge not promote. If that is the case they need to stop judging and start there record company for there favorites. After the save I really am disgusted with the arrogance of all three judges and dont care to watch the show. Elise was rocking and should not have been voted off. She will end up doing better without the Idol win..........Hot

and vote off the three stooges.

Happy Camper, I'M WITH YOU! What's up with this luvvvv for Josh???  He's not a singer, he's a SCREAMER!!  And yes, plezzzz, enough with the standing ovations for Josh and Josh only!!!! I say that's totally not fair and only serves to influence the [voting] public (for those that can't form their own opinions).  Oh, and one last thing......Randy, can you start a sentence with something other than YO????????

on randy telling joshua that he found his nitch  in this time in the music world, I didn't realize we needed someone to bring back the otis redding, sam Cooke sound REALLY RANDY I think its time for new judges there all a little older maybe we need people who relate to a younger generation can actually give an honest evaluation it would be refreshing to see

sooo glad hollie made it. she   has  the   best   strongest voice.   j lo   knows  she is  the best but seems to like the others  better mustn't want anyone with singing abilities to win.   she rocks the dance floor but has no voice at all. why is she judging music ability?

Donna and Daisy, I agree with you both! I believe Elise has a great career ahead, now that the Idol charade is over. She has such a unique voice that can rock it, blues it, scream it or do anything she really wants to do with it! This is just the beginning for this talented gal! As you said..."Rock on, Elise!" You've got a fan base!

Hopefully the exposure will help Elise move on to bigger and better things. I don't think that American Idol is the format for the slightly older "rockers" to actually win, but it has helped give a few others a boost in the past for simply competing. I have no more reason to watch the show now, but good luck to the rest!

well, I hated to see Elise go but you knew she would.  america just never really got behind Elize.  She is a good singer but I think America didn't like her style.  I am just about finished with Idol.  They need new judges.  JLo is ridiculous with her pleading with America all the time in "please, please, please vote for Joshua" or "America you gotta vote for this girl Jessica".  Every year, they latch on to certain contestants and plead for votes.  The last straw for me was when Jessica got the boot and JLO ran up on stage when she was singing for her life. They mad @#( of themselve (all 3 judges) and what they did showed NO RESPECT for the other contestants at all!!!!!  That was the last straw for me with those judges. And stop giving Josh a standing ovation all the time, we know you want him to win and Jessica too.   Joshua is a church singer, not a pop singer and Jessica has been voice trained, her parents putting her through competitions and for heavens sake she has a long way to grow up and she acts on stage with her face expressions and the way she sings like she is Beyonce!!!  Had the fans blowing on her this past week, Give me a break!!  And her I am just going to have to show everyone Im BB CHEZ.   That attitude in its self is not worth winning.  Poor Hollie has a great voice but the judges and mentors have destroyed her with telling her don't do this, do that, change this.  they have screwed her head up so bad - I wouldn't get scared performing too!!!  Skylar is a firecracker and a very good singer.  Now she is true country (not like our last winner Scotty).  And last Phil Phillips, who is always true to himself, he's not a phony, who is different and I believe he can probably sell more records and be like Dave Matthews kinda music, or be popular like Coldplay or the The Fray.  His mannerism is genuine and not phony and that is a sign of a true artist , just like Daughtry was.   I wish the teenyboppers would wake up and realize BB Chez is phony and if she don't make it or Josh doesn't make it Jimmy is definitely going to sign those two because he is bias himself.  Let Jessica go to Disney, Josh to gospel and sklyar country and Phil be our AI winner.

It is sad to see any of the finalists leave, but they have all now been discovered and will have the chance to be famous.  My favorite is Phillip, he is a very unique talent.

I think it was a mistake for American Idol to lower the age for the singers to compete.  Some of the very young ones are good, but definitely not ready to handle being America's Idol, at least let them become adults first.

Jimmy needs to be a judge!  He knows his stuff and he's HONEST!
