I sure hope Ryan Seacrest is feeling better! The show just isn't the same when he half-asses it (or would his illness reduce it to quarter-assing?). He certainly looks recovered.

Before things move forward, "The Queen Extravaganza," hand-picked by Brian May and Roger Taylor themselves, performs "Somebody to Love." I remember hearing about this, and everyone talking about how much this guy looks and sounds like Freddie Mercury. I'm all about that sassy guitar player, though.

I enjoyed this performance very much. I will never get tired of seeing Roger Taylor and Brian May bust out on stage. They are just the coolest! Everybody else, go home.

Ryan tells us it's hard for the contestants because "their bond is working like magic," and they sing that darned "I've Got the Magic in Me" song that I swear has been covered on a Ford Music Video every single year and maybe twice this year. Don't applaud for that, audience. It does not merit applause. Hollie looks amazing tonight!

And now, the "American Idol" contestants go to TMZ, which tends to be a segment I enjoy. Skylar is just so adorable. It turns out there's a male strip club called "Mantasia." No one had any solutions for Elise, who looks mad by default. Why was Nigel Lythgoe there, though? He must have invited himself.

Up first to the stage are Jessica and Elise. I'm glad we are getting Jimmy's thoughts again. I missed him last night. The playback showed Jessica's performance of "Bohemian Rhapsody" as better than I remembered it. The judges over-praising her was just how I remember it, though. Jimmy called "Bohemian Rhapsody" scary and "less Queen, more Stephen King." He is proud of himself. He thought "Dance With My Father" was clever and demonstrated a knowledge of rhetoric.

What did Jimmy think of Elise? He thinks she picked the wrong Queen song (What?! I thought it was great!) and thought it came off as "clubby." Jimmy thought "Bold as Love" was a bad choice because it's more of a performance piece for someone playing the guitar and singing. What did America think? One is safe. One is in the bottom. Jessica is safe. Elise goes back to her stool, which is still warm from her regular spot in the bottom three.

Look at Casey Abrams, future gnome!

Now look at Stefano Langone, who is looking more confident than ever before on that stage. Good for him! Can't say I care for the song, particularly the part that goes, "It's. The. Best. Night. Of. My. Life" all robot-like. He's dancing, though, which is something he didn't get to show off much on this show. He has improved as an artist, I think, and that makes me happy.

Hollie and Joshua are next. The friends! Hollie is more nervous than Joshua, probably. Who does Jimmy think should be more nervous, though? Jimmy thought Hollie did a good enough job with "Save Me" and thought "The Climb" was a great choice. There was an odd break before we looked at Joshua's highlights. Jimmy thought Joshua did a great job interpreting both songs and choosing them. Smart! "If Joshua gets voted off tonight, there is something wrong with the competition, the voting, the entire ball of wax," Jimmy says. What a dated expression.

Best friends. Who stays? Who goes? Hollie is in the bottom three. Joshua is safe. Jimmy will be relieved to know there's nothing wrong with this ball of wax.

Oh, goodness. Steven Tyler is in a Burger King commercial, immediately followed by Jennifer's Kohl's commercial. But where is Randy's commercial?

StevenBurgerKing.jpg

Now Katy Perry sings "Part of Me," and Steven Tyler enjoys another chicken tender becoming a part of him. She seems tired. Maybe she caught the Ryan Seacrest too-much-money flu.

Now it's down to Skylar and Phillip. I thought Skylar had a great night, but Phillip is a favorite! Let's see what Jimmy has to say. Jimmy thought her second song was a "little self-indulgent." Jimmy thought she got knocked out in Round 2. Phillip "Lady-killer" Phillips was divisive. Jimmy lets us in on a secret: Phillip was sick this week, too! His energy suffered as a result.

Skylar is in the bottom three. Phillip is safe, and Phillip will probably win this whole thing. Skylar is safe, though, so she heads back to the couches. Whew!

Ryan sends the four contestants who are safe back to their couch. They object, but Ryan is in charge. Elise is eliminated. It had to happen. She was great, but this just wasn't the right place for her. It's too bad that all these contestants have to see their moments play over a twangy Scotty McCreery tune. Goodbye, Elise. Get back with your band!

What do you think of Thursday night's results? Did America get it right?

"American Idol" airs Wednesdays and Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on FOX.

I am sick of that Josh Lede's screaming! Then the worst is when the phony bologna judges piss on their leg and tell them it is raining! He is not a soul singer at all! Pleaseeee.Thumbs down

I like Holly.Open-mouthed

The little Philippina chick has made it this far only because of the tight and NUMEROUS click of her culture.Sick

Probably Skylar will win, as she is has the most cross over sound. WHICH IS SAD! I can not tell one singer from the other anymore. Thinking

Elise was amazing. Has anyone had the audacity to try to pull off a Jimi Hendrix song, especially a ballad like Axis Bold As Love on AI before? I think not. She really "made it her own" and I know somewhere up there Jimi H. is Very, Very proud. Rock on Elise. I am sorry that the voters just can't see the grain from the chaff. Well, there is hope in P.P. still.

Should have gone home last week.  Colton should still be in the competition....show is lacking now that he's no longer performing.

I'm waiting to see Phillip leave the show.  He's the most boring singer I've ever heard.  He might as well sing one song over and over since they all sound the same! They should change the voting to who do you want to leave rather than voting for who you want to stay!

What's with Randy and the " Now listen dude " when commenting on one of the girls performances????  Dude you are being disrespectful to these ladies and all women in general . Perhaps "Dudette " would be a lot more cooler  if your so stuck on this type of phrase ... I will miss Elise . America what is it you see in Phillip? And why is he still there ? I though this was a singing competition not  a contest of who can make the  most awful face !

Does America really think he's a good singer ? His range is very limited , and he's trying to be like Dave Matthews ..... Isn't the original good enough ? Phillip why are you still there and Colton , a much better singer gone ??? Colton is much better looking .. Girls like good looks more than weird faces ...Hey twinsmom6 ..Jessica is a very beautiful young Asian lady .... She has class ! Cristina Aguilara at Jessica's age could no more sing Whitney than you could .And by the way A great deal of singers keep a little tempo going with a finger on the mike .......You seem like you should save all your hate for something really awful like suicide bombers...

My picks for top 3  Josh , Skylar and Jessica ... Good Luck all ! God Bless !

Sorry to see Elise go. I really liked her. I would rather have seen either Joshua or Hollie leave before her. Oh well.

Like many of the previous entries, I thought Elise was the best singer/entertainer and tried to vote for her several times. For an hour and a half after the show I tried to vote. Two out of three calls either received a busy signal or an "all circuits are busy" recording. I told my wife, "This is great, she's getting so many votes that I can't get through." I had even switched from 04 to 10, thinking it would be a less busy avenue. When I did get through I was thanked for voting for contestant 4. That's understandable, but not that she was eliminated when it seemed so many were voting for her . Regardless, hers is the only album I would buy from this year's contestants...well maybe Jessica's...we'll see.

Hollie should win!!!  We haven't had a female winner in a few years & she has the best voice.

I am so glad that Elise has finally left the show.  Every song she sang was off pitch.  She was so whiny all the time.  PP should go next.  Every song he sings sounds the same.  I mean every song.  Why he is still on the show is a mystery to me.  The next should be Joshua to go off the show.  He is a karioke singer at best.  Jessica, Skylar and Hollie are the best singers and should be in the top 3.  What a show that would be.  Hollie is a diamond in the rough.  She has the most potential of all the singers.  Jessica seems to be an old soul.  Skylar has potential too.

Elis3e is very good had her in my top three wqith Skyler and Jessica. Jessica has a voice that is so unbeleiveable. She will probably win hands down, if not her then I pick skyler. Phillip and Joshua are ok but can't touch the ladies.

FINALLY! Elise is gone!!! I have waited long enough! Elise should've gone the night Jessica was saved, so the judges wouldn't save Elise. To the American Idol judges and producers, let me be a judge, or at least bring Simon back! It's not the same with his point blank honesty, and I am the same way with my honesty. After reading so many comments from so many blogs about this show, it leads me to wonder if this is staged. If it is, I'm going to stop watching Idol.

I think Elise should get asked to front for the new Queen band!! Am I the only one who thinks so? Get rid of that Freddie wanna-be and put gorgeous (even if she does do a great mean-face) Elise up there!  She needs to be with more mature (older and more seasoned) artists than the teeny bopping idols left on now. And I think Colton got robbed!!

Every season there is that one singer that makes me scratch my head over. What is it that America sees that I don't. How does this singer survive week after week. Last season it was Casey.....I just didn't get it. I believe he was also the one the judges used their save on. This year it is Phillip. I am not getting him either. He is OK, but that is it, just OK. In the beginning of the season I thought it would be Hollie and Jessica at the end......but it looks like Skylar is proving herself. She is the less timid of the three, full of confidence. Jessica exudes confidence at moments and Hollie is so timid. Joshua has been a surprise but his voice is not something I would pay for, either an album or a concert. I am still going with Jessica to pull this one out.

Hollie and Jessica are the only ones who have depth, control, and clearity in their vocals.  Elise should have gone a long time ago.  PP and Joshua should count their blessings they're in the top five.

Donna and Daisy, I agree with you both! I believe Elise has a great career ahead, now that the Idol charade is over. She has such a unique voice that can rock it, blues it, scream it or do anything she really wants to do with it! This is just the beginning for this talented gal! As you said..."Rock on, Elise!" You've got a fan base!

I am all for "SkylarSmile" I haven't seen one performance that I didn't enjoy yet!!! She is GREAT!!! I'm glad they finally voted Elise "OFF"Smile!!!!!!!!!!! I'm tired of hearing her voice and the fact that Colton was voted off "before" Elise is absolutely ridiculous!!! I like Josh and Phillip they are both good only I'm surprised Phillip has made it this far just because the "type of music" he sings doesn't seem like it would get the attention of the younger voters. Jessica can definitely sing but I don't like all the yelling in most of her performances. I picked "SKYLAR" from the beginning and I hope she is America's "NEXT AMERICAN IDOL"!!!!!!!! "SHE HAS A GREAT PERSONALITY, SEEMS DOWN TO EARTH AND SHE IS A BEAUTIFUL YOUNG LADY!!!" GOOD LUCK TO HER AND EITHER WAY i'M SURE SHE PICK UP A CONTRACT IN THE END!!!Smile
