Simon Cowell Outraged Over 'The Voice' Rescheduling

'X Factor' creator lashes out at NBC for adding additional night for season premiere

On Wednesday, Sept. 5, bosses at NBC announced that a third night of the blind auditions will air next Wednesday, Sept. 12., following the previously scheduled premiere on Monday, Sept. 10, and Tuesday, Sept. 11. With the new Wednesday episode, "The Voice" will be in the same time slot as the season two premiere of FOX's "The X Factor."

Preview: 'The Voice' vs. 'The X Factor'

Cowell is furious over the switch-up, telling TMZ.com that NBC execs broke the "gentleman's agreement" he had with them, which would have allowed viewers to watch both singing competition programs. He insisted, "This is a cynical, cold-hearted, unprofessional way of doing business. These guys have really got it in for us. It's nothing short of dirty tricks."

The Brit believes "The Voice" showrunners are gunning for Cowell because when the UK version of "The Voice" began, it was pitted against "Britain's Got Talent," another Cowell created show, and "BGT" trumped "The Voice" in ratings. In addition to the shows going up against each other, the schedule change reignites the feud between "The Voice" judge Christina Aguilera and her longtime rival Britney Spears on "The X Factor" panel. Cowell adds, "Britney's not going to appreciate the fact that Christina - who has been a bit of a rival - isn't allowing Britney to have a night of her own. She's going to be devastated because she's put her heart and soul into this. "The reason they've done this is they don't want people to see 'X Factor' because they've heard how good the series is. They don't want their audience to see Britney Spears. They don't want their audience to see Demi Lovato." With just days away from both season premieres, Cowell is fed up with the peacock network and their ratings ploys. He says, "I can't bear it that the network is playing political games and playing with the audience."

"The Voice" premieres Monday, Sept. 10, at 8 p.m. ET/PT on NBC, and "The X Factor" premieres Wednesday, Sept. 12, at 8 p.m. ET/PT on FOX.

NBC is currently in a "desperate mode!"  It's what's called Karma, and they know it!  We thank Simon for bringing these shows to the screen!  It's too bad NBC continues to play their dirty games!

Both shows are good because they find talent and help them do what they would love to do if they had the money to promote themselves.  Alot of talent out and about and we at home get to see the joy of the artist when the people in the audience reacts to them, postively.  If the networks accidently put the shows in the same time slot, they should do something to change it.  Both networks should take a stance to make the  change.  These shows are much better than some of the reality shows and sitcoms that are just plain goofy and more than goofy just plain embarassing.  Even some of the remarks made by people are this article are really disrespectful.  Why rag on appearances or money.  That was not the issue here.

Oh who cares about Britney or Christina. I watch The Voice for the amazing talent. And if Spoiled Simon feels so threatened by the competition he can always beg Fox to give him another time slot.

This is such whining Simon...I have followed Idol since day one. I could not even make it thru the first season of X-factor. The show was terrible. Firing everyone right out of first season was pompous. Hiring Brittany Spears for this season will be your downfall. No-talent Brittany is not qualified and with her past history...no one wants to watch her. Demi, not so great either. As a music mogul you should know the "Disney" kids are trouble.

"The Voice" absolutley incredible show, concept, format, content and talent...Love love love it and won't miss a night!

XF has amatuers, TV some not all are established proven talent...the two shows dont and cant compare.

Cable television is a thing of the past who can afford it anymore? So many channels walking over eachother playing the same thing, the big 3 putting out nothing but garbage shows, while canceling ones that should have stayed. First I decided I didn't want to pay for cable, now a side effect :  I don't even want to watch it anymore. So many other options.

This doesn't surprise me at all with the way a US television network is treating people.  This country is getting WORSE AND WORSE as to how it treats people with crappy treatment and no consideration for others in its decision-making process.  If I were Cowell, I would get away from dealing with NBC completely to send them a strong message that you won't put up with their sh**.  He is right that it is nothing but unprofessional and lacking tact and class.

If you can't play with the Big Kids, then take your toys and go home because everything is fair in love and ratings.

The shows should be on different nights, so that the viewers that want to, can watch both. There is little or nothing worth watching, considering what we have to pay to watch adverts, so sort it out!

If the series is so good, why complain that another network is wanting to get some ratings for that night too? What a loser.

NBC is creatively poverty stricken and seems determined to stay that way.

If it's so great why would he care what's going up against his show on another network?  These shows are stupid anyways.
