Judges save Jessica Sanchez from elimination in shocking results show

On Wednesday night, at the end of a string of mixed performances, Jennifer Lopez admitted that viewers are probably just voting for their favorites at this point. Does that mean there's little a contestant can do to fall out of favor with their fans? Will Jessica Sanchez's fans forgive her for wearing that terrible white bodysuit thing during her trio performance? Or does it just mean that underdogs need to give them a reason to vote? Also, as a side note, I simply don't agree with Jimmy's comparison of Colton and Phillip. They are completely different artists, and Colton cares way more about this whole thing than Phillip.

"Idol" alums James Durbin and Jennifer Hudson are performing in this episode, so I will enjoy at least one of those performances! I hope James goes right up to Colton, says, "I invented standing on pianos," then turns to the audience and asks, "What do you guys think?!"

"So, let me fill you in," Ryan says, not filling us in on anything of value. Let me fill you in: Jennifer looks stunning on this night, Randy is still wearing those giant sparkly pins and the group number is back! It is a terrible rendition of P!nk's "Raise Your Glass." These kids look sad and wiped -- except Elise, surprisingly. Look at those "dirty little freaks" up there, pumping their fists to the sounds of overgrown Kidz Bop.
Idolraiseyourglass.jpg

Aah!! The best thing happened. Ryan Seacrest got in at the very end of the group number! He slid in front of the final tableau, legs inexplicably in the air, raising his red Coca-Cola cup above his head. How much did they have to pay him to do that? Whoever had that idea, I love them forever.

I don't even care about the terrible, "Napoleon Dynamite"-inspired Ford music video this week. Ryan Seacrest just made my night. The contestants got some half-hearted celeb tweets. Colton got invited to prom by Katie of Wichita, Kan. Hollie got an invite to spring formal from a surprisingly hot dude. Elise got some feather jewelry for herself and Steven. Ryan made a funny joke about Quinceañera invitations. He is really on a roll again in this episode.

Hollie and Jessica are going head-to-head for the first results of the night. Will Hollie fulfill our expectations by heading for the bottom three, or will Jessica be penalized for singing a song we weren't super familiar with? Jimmy called Hollie stiff and contrived, and called Jessica the effortless, winner of the night. Hollie? Ya burnt. Gosh, Jessica's legs are thin.

Hollie starts a group on the right side of the stage. Jessica starts a group on the left. I know whose group I would prefer to be in on this night. Although, she was wearing that jumpsuit ...

James Durbin is performing a song from his album, which is titled "Memories of a Beautiful Disaster." So overwrought. He's got blond hair now, y'all. Take that, Colton. He probably did it first. He's singing into a vocal modifier, which works for the song but not for the context. Give us the real James! The people demand it! While we're making requests, can I ask that he take off those blinding white sneakers? He screamed a lot. And when he was finished screaming, the contestants clapped slowly, reservedly.

Jamesisblonde.jpg
Oh, my gosh. Of course James Durbin is touring with Evanescence. It's a match made in gothic heellllll yeaaahhh. (That was me screaming into a distorter).

Back to the groups. Phillip and Elise hear results next. Do you think Ryan practices this with his Beanie Babies at home? So many Beanie Babies, I bet. The judges raved about Elise and not so much about Phillip. Jimmy says they're both singer/songwriters and "character singers." Jimmy thinks Phillip will be in the bottom 3 on this night and that Elise might also be, despite being "technically correct." So either of them moving to a group won't answer anything for us. Phillip joins Hollie, and Elise joins Jessica.

Just stopping by on her way to an EGOT, it's Jennifer Hudson! Oh, my gosh. She looks stunning. Weight Watchers is the way! And her hair is fierce. And Ne-Yo? Shut up. This is awesome. Jennifer Hudson is showing off that acting ability in this performance, giving Ne-Yo all kinds of looks. Can she be Whitney Houston in the biopic everyone's discussing?

JHudlikeaman.jpg
Colton and Joshua hit the stage next. So it is Skylar who must choose. Jimmy thinks they both did well, and he's "in" on both of them. Colton still hasn't gotten the ubiquitous standing ovation? What's going on with that? Even Jennifer Lopez can't believe it. "I thought we stood for everyone!"

Joshua stands with Jessica and Elise, which the audience has already determined is the winning group, demonstrated by applause. Colton joins Hollie and Phillip. Uh, oh. Colton and Phillip!

Skylar is up last. Jimmy thinks she is just great, not to be left behind. He was floored and hopes Skylar doesn't get left behind. He predicts Phillip, Elise and Hollie will be the bottom three. Skylar is safe, and Ryan graciously didn't make her choose a group. Oops, I spoke too soon because Ryan asked her to pick the group she belongs with. Skylar said, "No!" and walked away. Good girl, not acknowledging that. He places her with Hollie, Colton and Phillip in a big twist. Joshua, Jessica and Elise are in the bottom three.

Time to use the Save! Jimmy thinks this is wrong, wrong, wrong. But I kind of get it. I wonder if Joshua and Jessica are getting too advanced, too mature, too boring for the viewers. Randy says this is messed up. I only sort of agree.

No one can offer up an explanation (Except me! Let's talk later. Text me or something, Ryan). Joshua is safe. Jennifer looks like she's ready to solve a murder. The person at risk is Jessica Sanchez. The judges freak out. I wish I had gotten a screen cap of Jennifer's face. It was great. I can't even believe it! Before the judges can interrupt with "we will save her!" Ryan hands Jessica the microphone.

The judges go up on stage like this was all scripted. Jennifer grabs the microphone, "Gimme that mic! Of course we're using the Save! Go sit down." I teared up a little. I love when stuff happens like this.
TheSaveisON.jpg
"We are saving Jessica without any doubt," Randy declares. Ryan doesn't like when he's not in control of things. "She is one of the best singers in America. Are you kidding me!" Randy shouts.

"I don't expect anything," Jessica says winningly. She was almost Pia Toscano-ed right outta here! But I love that girl. For filler, Ryan has Jessica sing us out. The top 7 remain for another week!

What a whirlwind five minutes! Did you collapse from all the excitement? Will you suffer from PTSD?

What do you think of Thursday night's results? Did America and the judges get it right?

"American Idol" airs Wednesdays and Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on FOX.

Last Nights show was fixed as far as I am concerned because if you look at how many weeks is left before the finale they need 7 people because there are 6 weeks so they needed 5 people to leave and 2 at the end, so this was all a set up and those stupid judges didn't want to save anyone but Jessica or Joshua so it was rigged. But I am so sick of them shoving Jessica and Joshua down my throat I would never vote for them even though Jessica can sing. Joshua is a waste to me he screams when he sings and I don't like a screamer.

If anyone watching has a ear for music and can see before their eyes real talent than they would recognize that Jessica is probably the most gifted of all the contestants. I couldn't help but snicker at last nights results when it was announced she received the fewest votes. I immediately figured it out. The ****s that voted for Oboma are the same ones that vote on American Idol. What a bunch of mental midgets! They all need a proctologist!

the real problem with the voting is that 11-15 year old girls are 90% of the ones who will vote 200 times in an evening and Idol lets unlimited votes go through from any number.  if they limited voting to 3 votes per number there would be a demographic that wouldn't take the cutest guy on the show every time.

Aw COME ON NOW!  That was so fake.  They came up with that to make it more interesting.  Jennifer Lopez is not a good actress, and neither is Jessica Sanchez.  I actually laughed because they did it all wrong.  American Idol lost a viewer in me!

come on now, Jessica really does have an amazing voice and consider her age! I truly do believe that this show is fixed and that save was rediculous! They are all very good but my vote went for Holly because she did really well the other night but didn't get good reviews, I felt sorry for her, poor thing! My votes will from this point on be for the BEST singer and that my fellow commenters will be Jessica! enough said.......

I think that the viewers are finally getting tired of the judges blatantly pimping a contestant every season. This year it's Jessica.

Randy should have kept his mouth shut, it was very disrespectful for him to say that she is one of the best singers in America in front of all the other contestants.

Is she good? Yes. One of the best in America? Not to me.

last night was great until the judges went stupid. Simon would never had put up with their trash. Judge her on her sing for your life and not just because "they " like her. She may be a great singer, but fair is fair.  Go Philip!!!!!!!

This show is really not showcasing talent anymore, it should be called American Good Looks or American Fancy Pants.  It will be like the rest of the recent winners, some male hunk singer wannabe that cannot sell records. Remember how Adam Lambert got voted off? James Durbin can outsing that Colton kid anyday and he comes of like a guy in puberty having an enema.  I'm sorry this show is tanking after this year.

I'm sorry, but I couldn't stand listening to Jessica sing last week...it was like scraping a chalkboard with your fingernails...I think the "people" got it right!!! Also, she keeps saying she has worked her whole life for this...she is only 16--what whole life?! I really didn't like the way Randy came on and made his comment for us 'America" needs to VOTE FOR THE BEST...kind of felt like he is trying to force all of America to vote for Jessica...this upset me a little. I think we "America" are voting for who we think is the best, not everyone likes the same music...and I'm sorry and I think she is as cute as she can be, but I really can't stand listening to Jessica sing...she needs to change her music choice or something. With that being said, the same goes for Joshua...the judges have him so full of himself, it's pothetic! I mean really...did you see his face when they announced that his group was the bottom three...I would really love to see him go home next...he is just so full of himself...and I really don't like his music either...he belongs in the opera with Jessica. This is just my opinion. Furthermore, I have really liked Phillip all the way through...but in the past few shows, I have actually changed my choice to Colton...the song that he sung last week---I can't get it out of my mind---I keep singing it over and over in my head...when a singer can get their music in your head...that's what its all about...isn't it! I mean would you really get stuck on a tune that Jessica has sung or would you listen to it in the car? I wouldn't...sorry. Again, this is just my opinion...everyone has different taste in music and style...that's what makes "America" what it is...don't let the judges bully your choice...vote for who "you" like the best!!!

I have no problem with the save, only the way the judges portrayed themselves. I'm sorry but they tell you every week vote for your favorite. Some people like rock some like country. Everyone has a preference. So when someone is eliminated the judges may disagree but  should never act the way they did and Randy was way out of line for what he said. That's like telling the other contestants they are just there as sidekicks. This happens every year , someone who the judges thinks can win it goes home early. Look at Jennifer Hudson. Maybe the audience is trying to say Jessica may have the best pipes but that's not who they would buy concert tickets for. Everyone will never agree on everything , but the judges were way out of line for their actions.I can't imagine how the other contestants felt after that escapade.

Jessica needs to sing Broadway...that way she can be the star and her "alter ego" can be the co-star! Yes, she can sing but she isn't an entertainer, she just stands there and when she has to walk or "try" to dance, she can't do it. She has probably never been told"NO" in her life by the look on her face when she heard she was voted off.! She doesn't appear to be friendly with the other contestants, like she thinks she is too good for them and that is probably how she was raised. I hope she leaves next week, and she can take her "alter ego" with her.

I'm so over American Idol.  I think this was just some drama they thought up to

boost their ratings.  Jessica has never been in the bottom 3 and all of a sudden she is eliminated.  The judges have always tried to sway votes to who they

want to win, nothing new there.

I felt bad for the other 6 contestants.

I think you need to consider this if you already haven't, and it's why I didn't vote for Joshua or Jessica:  Because they're both so great I just figured why waste a vote on two people who are slam dunks to make it into the top three? I just assumed they would get so many votes that I could afford to try and keep Phil and Hollie into it as long as possible.

And on the subject of Hollie, I'm so sick of Jimmie, Randy, Steve and Jennifer constantly dissing her because of her "inexperience" and her alleged pitch problems(which after listening to her again the next day, weren't nealry what you claim they are). Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Idol originally FOR amateurs?  Is she supposed to have the experience of an Elise who already sings with a band and gets paid for it?  Or Phil and Colton who are both songwriters/singers, and older.  Jimmie, you call her contrived - same thing as a phony.  She's 14!!  How many millions of people were you singing in front of at age 14.  Give her some credit. I predict that one day she'll have a career equal to Carrie Underwood.  Who will Jessica's audience be?  I don't thiink your viewers really know.

I every week go to You Tube and see how many hits have been  on singers on the two talent shows that  going on right now.   This you can see a tread..

I still believe that you should choose by the best singer of the competition.

Fancyface: the save has been used, and you can still get your way.  So please, let the air out and breathe.  The save came about because of all the po-faces after that bald white rocker Daughtry was sent home (in reality, because Taylor Hicks could sing Elvis songs better that he).  The argument in favor of it was that 'sometimes people at home "forget" to vote and regret it so'--maybe they think that their favorite was so great, and the Judges, so applauding that surely, their calls are not necessary, and then, oops, too late.  2 singers are sent home the following week, so there's really no harm, no foul.  If America is sure that they prefer all of the other 7 over her after next week, then Jessica will go home the same.   I wonder what you are teaching your children?  If you don't like the rules--everyone knew there was a save, whine about it?

I don't think it is fair for the judges to have a save.  The judges gave their comments the night before.  They should go by the decision that America made.  It is called "American" Idol not "Judges" Idol.  What's the good of voting if it is going to be reversed!  Yes, Jessica and Joshua are talented, but I don't think they are the best overall entertainers.  They scream to much for me.

This once very entertaining showcase of talent is quickly becoming a joke.  I can only hope that these so-called judges went back and watched the results show last night and realized just how ignorant they looked and acted.  Let the friggin' singers sing, let the voters choose, and stop trying to sway the votes!

I don't think there should be a save. America voted and Jessica is out of there. End of story. Can she sing? Oh yea, but she was on the bottom and what is fair is fair. The judges are suppose to set examples, well they were totally out of line and what are they teaching our children??????

I think the only reason the judges reacted the way they did is because they had Jessica pegged the winner from the beginning and America proved them wrong...it was disgraceful the way they ran on stage and said and act the way they did...bascially saying you got it wrong America and we are right..I feel bad for the other contestants...what are they there for..just to be the pre show for Jessica?
