'Dancing With the Stars' Recap: Overruled!
Judges' favorites Audrina and Tony are cut in a shocking elimination
Well, if you ever wanted proof that ABC really does count the viewer votes, you’ve got it.
I certainly can’t remember when a contestant who placed second on the judges' leaderboard was eliminated, but that’s what happened to Audrina Patridge this week. Her paso doble wasn’t her best dance of the competition, but it was crisp and precise and she got nothing but compliments from the judges on her technique. I fully expected to see her in the finals (along with Jennifer and Brandy, as long as we’re throwing around predictions). Instead, she and Tony were eliminated.

Audrina was gracious, even articulate, but she must have been in shock. Everybody else was. This was a really, really tough one.
Here’s how our remaining stars did this week:
Kurt Warner
What Kurt’s tango lacked in polish it made up for in sheer theatricality. The judges weren’t happy about this one, so it’s good that the voters had their say. Being at the bottom of the judges’ leaderboard is pretty grim, no matter how much America loves you, so let’s hope Kurt wasn’t too spooked.
Bristol Palin
The tango is the undoing of many a star, but Miss Palin bucked the trend with her breakthrough routine -- and it was even the judges’ choice for the encore. Is she rallying just in the nick of time? I guess we’ll find out next week.
Rick Fox
Rick and Cheryl’s rocked-out tango was a little stiff at the beginning, but Rick turned in a fantastic performance. His control throughout the routine was amazing: He didn’t sacrifice any passion for the precision of his movements. I thought this was Rick’s best performance to date, and I’m excited to see what he and Cheryl do next.
Brandy
Brandy and Maks’s tango was hot, hot, hot. Len called it the dance of the night! The pop star’s intensity was to be envied, even though she slipped up a few times toward the end. Will she continue to dominate the leaderboard next week? It wouldn’t surprise me at all.
Kyle Massey
Kyle’s on a bit of an unlucky streak: Both this week’s tango and last week’s "Charlie’s Angels"-inspired foxtrot were huge hits with the audience and got nitpicked by the judges. Len told Kyle that he needs to work on his technique. Will Kyle pull out of this spin next week?
Jennifer Grey
Was Jennifer’s frenetic paso doble a freak accident? She and Derek really flubbed this one. Their timing was a little off and Jennifer had a serious stumble coming out of a spin. It was really a shock to see the front-runners finish so near the bottom. "It feels rotten," Jennifer said.
Who won the week? Brandy...just Brandy, really
Who needs to step it up? Kurt, Bristol and Jennifer
Enough is enough! By now Bristol should have been voted off! It is obvious that someone or something is out there pushing her to the next week!
DWTS is you plan to stay on top of the leaderboard you may want to think twice about those you bring on! The show may loose ratings just like American Idol!
By the way, I have yet to see what the judges bring to the table! They are the experts, let them put together a dance for the finals!
Cswerve - not saying I was giving Jennifer a pass but her "formal" training if you want to call it that was over 25 years ago and she is 50 years old so I can certainly give her a bit more of a break than I could Nicole S from last season also Arrogant Derek's partner. She was most certainly the judges favorite all of last season. I thought too that Jennifer was just going to sail through and win the whole thing without a hiccup so am glad to see that it has become more of a real competition. Not real sure why you need to use the name of Jesus Christ in your post and I am not some holy roller posting here!!!
Dancy Nancy, its funny that you are giving Jennifer a pass because her formal training was so many years ago in your opinion. Do I need to give the bicycle analogy here? I think not.
The point is, she's had the training, she knows how her body should be held, and the basic concepts of the dances, and in those first few weeks they should have named the show Dancing with Jennifer not Dancing with the stars because Jesus Christ, did they ever make it easy for her! First they gave her the theme song to dirty dancing, then, what about the song she got the week she got the 2 - 10's. Anyone that's been living under a rock would know that that particular song is "THE" song for the Argentine Tango! Jerry Springer would have done well with it. Honestly, you'd think the producers had a hard on for her!
I was so hoping for Jennifer and Derek to go. I'm sick to death of him and his overrated choreography (most of his dances are a frenzied mess IMO).
Whoever said Sabrina got robbed? Nope, Len was right about her...no shades of gray. Everything was too hard, even in the "soft" dances. Was glad to see her go that season.
Don't know where people are getting the impression that Brandy is basically a spoiled little drama queen. I think she's been very humble...oh, and I don't think she's had professional training for an iconic (otherwise bad) dance movie. Let me see...who has? Hmmm....Oh, yeah, Jennifer! And Derek gets the one with pro training yet again! Shocking! Give him a Kate Gosselin so we can see what he's really made of! On second thought, I'd rather he just go away and stay away. And Derek? Take Mark with you.
I remember last season when all the haters were touting Mya's previous experience and how she had an unfair advantage. Where are these haters this season with Jennifer? Silent! And Jennifer even had a fruedian slip in the 3rd show when she said "I just want to prove to myself that I can still perform...do these dances" Unfair advantage much? Yes!
Brandy is doing excellent, and has not been given the same scores as Jennifer and Audrina in the past. She's having to work hard for her's inspite of that arrogant, pompous **** Max! I would have loved to have seen Brandy with Derek instead, he's a much better choreographer. The only reason I wouldn't want to see Brandy win is because I don't like Max.
Still everyone needs to lay off her, she's doing very well and although I haven't voted a single time this season, I just may, in order to off-set the votes of some of you Jennifer Grey hypocrites.
I don't understand how Bristol Palin stays on DWTS ! She is a slob and looks like she needs to take a bath ! Mommy must be paying all her teabagger friends to vote for her daughter ! I would be embarrassed if I were Bristol and watched the replays ! Yuk !
YOU should be EMBARRASSED for even writing such garbage about someone. It shows through with shinning colors what type of person you are. I hope you don't have kids you are raising this same way....& I sure as heck hope my kids never turn out like you, what an embarrassment that would be for me to know that I taught them to have ZERO CLASS & NO SELF-RESPECT.
For all the other Bristol haters.....GO BRISTOL! Never let a B A S T A RD keep you down. Hold your head up high & ignore their IGNORANCE!
How is Bristol Palin still on?????? I agree with others.....her mother has everyone
voting for her because the girl looks like a stiff pole trying to dance...no feeling
no nothing.......they are keeping her on for the ratings...........I thought she would
get the boot by now...........but its amazing how Mommy and her Tea BAGS are
voting for her to stay.....people need to wake up...........vote her off!!! Mommy
can't get ya!!! lol lol
Please some one explain to me, how did Bristol even get on the show; and when did she become a STAR?????? These network producers need to do something, because for whatever reason, they think that keeping Bristol on beyond her time (1st show) is going to increase ratings; and it does not. The only thing that it has done is alienate many season viewers. After the monkey suit fiasco she should have been gone.
I think that it is awfully strange that in seasons past, when ever the judges voted someone to the bottom of the board, they were eliminated. Now, for the first time in how many seasons, this is not the case? Something stinks here, and it is obvious.
You got to be kidding me! Why the heck is Bristol Palin still there??? That girl cannot dance, move or act. Geez. Wake up, people this is a dancing contest, not popularity contest.
As for Brandy, she isn't good either. Jennifer and Derek should take it all even though they had one bad night. Everybody has that 'one bad night' thing.
Len said it the best tonight when he said that there was NO JUSTICE. The public really STUNK UP the elimination with their EMOTIONAL voting. THIS IS NOT A POPULARITY contest, PEOPLE!!! Why can't you set aside your "feelings" and put your votes on the best DANCERS?!!
DANCING WITH THE STARS PRODUCERS: Why don't you give the 3 judges the power to OVERRULE or VETO at least ONCE per season? That way, if the public gets absolutely ABSURD with their voting, like they did tonight, it can be undone.....at least ONCE per season the judges should have the power to overrule the audience.
