'Dancing With the Stars' Recap: Hardly a Fairy Tale Ending
Brandy and Maks' elimination sends shock waves through the crowd
If you missed this week’s results show you might have done yourself a favor.
There were audible gasps and boos from the audience as Brandy was cut from the show. The pop singer looked terrified as she stood onstage waiting to hear the results and absolutely heartbroken after they were announced.
When Brooke asked her how she felt about her elimination, Brandy simply said "I don’t know how to feel." Her partner Maks was a little more outspoken, "I love that the show represents the people’s choice."
Judge Bruno Tonioli was less diplomatic. He stood up and begged people to vote more often.
As the credits began to roll so did the tears. Host Tom Bergeron called tonight’s elimination "the cruelest cut" and I have to agree.
Dried your own tears yet? Then here’s a rundown of our three finalists’ performances this week:

Jennifer Grey
Jennifer and Derek had themselves a perfect week! They debuted both a spirited, sexy, totally fluid cha cha and perhaps the best waltz the show has ever seen. It was thoughtful and measured, just beautifully articulated. Even if Jennifer doesn’t win next week, she sure has earned her place in the "DWTS" Hall of Fame.
Kyle Massey
Kyle and Lacey had their best week ever, beating Brandy out for second place on the leaderboard. Their samba set a breathless pace, but Kyle somehow made it look easy. His rhythm was right on, his footwork was the best I’ve ever seen it, his hips were perfect and his arm extension was great. Kyle and Lacey’s Argentine tango was almost as energetic as their samba. Len praised Kyle’s enthusiasm, but didn’t have too much to say about the dance itself. Sometimes numbers speak louder than words, eh? Kyle may be the underdog heading into the Finals, but I have faith in him!
Bristol Palin
Bristol and Mark’s paso doble was beautifully, intricately choreographed, and struck just the right mood. I believe the word is smoldering. The pair’s waltz was equally well-done: the technique was excellent throughout, but a particularly well-executed series of spins about halfway through the routine really stood out. Did anyone really expect Bristol to make it to the finale? No. But if she turns in performances like these next week, she’s got a real shot.
The show is called "DANCING with the STARS"....not "Who Can Learn How to Dance".
Bristol is not a 'star'....she gained publicity through her mother which is to be expected when a family member is in politics or in the spotlight. She should have never been on the show.
Brandy was totally robbed and Bristol, IMO, should have stepped up and admitted the wrong person was sent home. I sure couldn't live with myself if that happened to me, but then, that's me.
The shows credibility has gone WAY down....the voting at this point should only be up to the judges who are judging on talent, not ballot stuffing.
i love it best season yet the people are voting the way there voting
because of the judges cruel comments to dancers after all there not
suppose to be proffessional dancers like jennifer gray had dancing experience
brandy too the only two that should be up there now are bristol and kyle
they have progressed each week getting better thats what the spirit of the
show is about i love it judges tried to get rid of bristol from the start
and finally the people stood up for her thank you voters for keeping the
judges in check and the only way to put it is if you dont vote dont complain
all my votes go to kyle and bristol
What a joke! Bristol can not dance, she is slower than a turtle and has no rhythm.
Brandy was totally robbed b/c most of America apparently has really bad taste.
Remember people this a dance competition, you don't vote for people because of who someone's mother is or your political choices. This should be the last season.
both brandy and jennifer have dance backgrounds. they should never have been on the show in the first place. both of them have whinned and have been ****y the whole season. bristol and kyle workede hard to get to this point. remember its supposedmto be be about people who DO NOT HAVE DANCE BACKGRORNDS. GO KYLE!!!!!!
ew
The results from last night are ridiculous!! what is wrong with people?? Bristol need s to go away and it is a tragedy that Brandi , for that matter Kurt ever left...This is enough for me. I will not watch the finals as the best are not being represented. Bristol is a clumsy, nonmusical non deserving individual. She is awful to watch and I am appalled. Is this a dance contest, a political contest for her mother or what?? I agree the integrity of the show is in jeopardy. I am disgusted.
If anything I believe that this shows that the tallying of the votes by ABC is legit. The executive producer already made comments to the media last week that it was evident that there was ballot stuffing going on. I'm sure that the ABC execs hoped that last nights results would more reflect the actual talent of the remaining celebrities and help to diffuse this controversy. I've always thought that the judges scores should account for 75% of the scoring to help make it more of a dance competition, and less of a popularity contest. In the past seasons there have been frequent controversial results that were driven by a celebrities large fan base. That's what ABC wanted. After all this is a reality show that thrives on audience participation to help generate ratings. Where I think they screwed up in choosing Bristol Palin is they underestimated the republican parties lust for power and control and their desperate efforts to make Bristol's mother appear to be anything more than a lightweight hockey mom that quit as governor. It's a shame they are wrecking this show, just like they did our economy.
From most comments made online it is apparent that a travesty has occurred with the integrity of the show in question. Brandy and Bristol did their best but one had to over perform the other. The show is paying the judges high dollar to make professional judgment but it is clear that their opinion or rating is of no importance whatsoever!. I think it would not be irresponsible to declare bristol as the winner of this season's DWT since it is plain and clear that she riding on scale that really favors her. the disgust of the judges is not fooling me for one minute. if they truly were disappointed with injustice, they should man-up/lady-up and declare they are stepping down. That also goes for the remaining dancers who must be aware by now that the same fate that befell Brandy awaits them whether they out dance Bristol or not.
