Kim Zolciak slams racism accusations
NeNe Leakes and Kandi Burruss both not laughing about season premiere

"Real Housewives of Atlanta" cast member Kim Zolciak has slammed accusations she made racist comments towards co-star Kandi Burruss. On Sunday's season premiere, Zolciak paid a visit to her friend's new home and commented that she had to lock her car doors, calling Burruss' affluent neighborhood "ghetto" and "hood."

Zolciak's rival, NeNe Leakes, took to Twitter to respond to the on-screen comments and wrote, "Racist comments! I been telling y'all this for a while now." But Zolciak struck back at Leakes on her Bravo blog by insisting she meant nothing by the remarks. She wrote, "NeNe constantly insinuated 'I come from a trailer park' and I am the racist one? I don't have to prove anything to anyone. I know my character, and the multiple friends of different races that I do have know it as well! Like I have said before and will say here again for the last time, COLOR means absolutely nothing to me. It is the person's character and blatant ignorance that determines the non-friendship between me and the person."

Additionally, during Zolciak's visit, she complimented Burruss' indoor pool and said, "Well, you don't need sun, that's perfect for you!" Zolciak went on to explain her actions that day and wrote, "My comment about her having an indoor swimming pool because she's black was just a silly joke. Kandi, Sweetie (her assistant), and I laughed. Quite frankly, I wish I had one myself ... (I) wasn't in the best mood ... It was over 95 degrees outside, I was seven months pregnant, and Kandi's home had no A.C. running. Sweetie told me it wasn't safe at all (however I still went to support Kandi), and in fact there are several movies and songs that describe and portray the harshness of that area." But Burruss wasn't laughing when she took to her own blog and wrote, "I was offended and irritated by Kim's ghetto neighborhood comments ... In my opinion, the stuff that Sweetie says to Kim adds to the whole racist theory people have about Kim."
"The Real Housewives of Atlanta" airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Bravo.
This is so unfortuante...racism is in our everyday lives...I lock my car doors no matter what neighborhood I am in. I am mindful of my whereabouts because I know ANYONE OF ANY COLOR CAN DO HARM...I wear hoodies, but I also wear business attire....I eat pigskins and also filet mignon....I have friends of every culture, creed, color....So, when comments are made about "ghetto" and "hood" that is racism..... It seems the only ignorant ppl out their are the ones who do no know and are uneducated.......The only thing I can do is pray
Who cares!!!! Can people feel the way they feel without being pounced on???? I think EVERYBODY has a degree of racism in them.. When people say to me " I don't see color" I answer, 'That's a crock of BULL! Color is the FIRST thing you see when meeting people!' I have a sister who says this constantly....BUT, she will only date WHITE men! Does that make her a racist??? Oh, I forgot to mention; SHE'S BLACK!!!!
I respect you for the simple fact that you are human...but I would be lying if I say I don't have a degree of racism in me; I'm just being honest.....more than what I can say for a lot of people. I treat people the way I want to be treated, regardless of race. But that is not because I was raised to; my family made no bones about their feelings about people of different ethnic backgrounds. No, I learned this from society. Meeting different people throughout my life has made me a better person. So, no matter how much people complain about racism, I still say society has taught us much more than we care to mention.
What crap. You know what. I was married to an african american and grew up in an extra extreamly diversed enviroment. African Amercians are just a racist and come out there mouths with that same crap. So you know what..... Its not a black and white thing. Its a small person thing. So look people. Let that 17 and 18th & 19th Century garbage stay there. Not saying we forget where we come from. But people we have an african american as president we have had african american secrtary of state, and we have an even more diversed society now than ever before. So when the n word comes out, and the honkey or whity or what ever comes out the mouth. We should not call it racisit. We should call it small and weak minded person. Period.
Let that garbage lay where it belongs. In the past garbage heap.
