'Dancing With the Stars' Recap: Outfoxed
Rick and Cheryl say their goodbyes
Another surprising result this week, and one that I'd wager will disappoint a lot of people. Rick Fox, who has really stepped up his game over the last few weeks of competition, was eliminated.
Rick seemed just about as surprised as the rest of us. He said that the show had been a "transformational journey" for him, and mentioned how much fun it had been to share the experience with his girlfriend and daughter.
This week Rick and Cheryl reinterpreted Helio Castroneves’s zany season five quickstep. Rick’s footwork was excellent, his rhythm was very good and he and Cheryl were perfectly in tune with each other. This was by far Rick’s best performance. It shouldn’t have been his time to go.
Here’s how the remaining five contestants did this week:
Brandy and Maks took on Gilles Marini’s sexy season eight foxtrot and might have topped the original. Brandy was poised and yet sensual. Her steps were perfect and her lines were gorgeous. Len broke out his 10 paddle for the first time all season.
Jennifer and Derek took on Drew Lachey’s iconic season two tango. The routine was a little quieter somehow, but no less powerful. Jennifer’s footwork was fantastic, her rhythm was great and her intensity was really something else. What a comeback!
Kurt and Anna put their own spin on Emmitt Smith’s season three tango. Kurt’s footwork was great, but Len had some complaints about his knees. (Yes, knees.) What’s that about not pleasing all of the judges all of the time?
Bristol and Mark took on Kelly Osbourne’s Season 9 waltz after turning in a breakthrough performance last week. The dance was excellent from a technical perspective. Bristol’s footwork was as good as it has ever been, and her lines were great. Her nervousness kept this waltz in "good not great" territory, but it was still one of her better efforts.
Kyle and Lacey performed Mel B.’s edgy season five and the routine was kind of a turning point for Kyle. For the first time in the competition his technique was right up there with his performance style. Let’s hope he holds it together next week!
Who won the week? Jennifer and Brandy
Who needs to step it up? Bristol and Kyle
Bristol will not make the final show, mark my words.
She will either mess up one of the next dances enough that the viewers votes won't make up the difference or she will quit the show.
RicK, Audrina and Florence were not going to win, so Bristol staying still doesn't mean anything, yet.
Why aren't you complaining how Rick and Audrina were better than Kyle and Kurt too?
Because they were, IMO.
We've seen it before, better dancers get screwed each season because they don't have enough fans.
People, lets remains calm. Like others have said (including myself) Bristol should be gone. However, this is nothing new. We all know that some people have a cult following, and regardless of how good (or bad) they are, their followers manage to carry them several weeks ahead of more well-deserving contestants.
Bristol's follower's (tea partiers), are doing just that, whereas every one elses' votes are being divided amongst the remaining constestants. Because of this, some of your better dancers loose out, but we all knew that Rick and Audrina wouldn't win anyway right? Right?
As the field narrows, and the sane voters have only a couple of contestants to vote for, we should see Bristol drop out. Let's just hope we don't see another Donny Osmond fiasco, where his fans were so large they carried him to a victory (what a bunch of crock that was). And for all of you that claim you'll never watch DWTS again because of this mess, well, I'll see you next season ;-), right back here on this message board. Admit it, you love to hate them as much as I do.
I refuse to watch DWTS anymore.........It was the year when it was a popularity contest with Donny Osmond and Kim.........now its a political contest.....that's why a lot of people feel that the shows are fixed...........how in d world is ms palin (bristol is stiff like her name "bristol" board) still in the competition.........just like her mother who can't speak.....she can't dance and still in competition..........there should be no more voting only the judes decision because the judge themselves were clearly shoccccccccccccccccked to say the least (or are they acting).......very questionable
Bristol Palin should of been gone weeks ago. It disappoints me that Florence Henderson, Audrina Patridge and Rick Fox have all gone and she is still there.
Let's hope that next week the truth will prevail.
I do believe what happened, and I don't like it, I hate it when people get a free pass like Ms. Palin. I'm sure that people voting for her couldn't do the "Electric Slide" if they had 30 days of instruction. But they can tell the difference between a toe lead and a heal lead. I don't think so, the vote of the judges should carry more weight than the call in votes. And the call in votes should be made public to the viewers that would make it more honest.
Oh, forgot! One more thing -Why doesn't the show do away with the call in, text in votes. If this were for real, and not for "show", then what ever the onsite judges decide, that woud give you the correct votes. Come on Producers/Directors, get rid of the "fan" vote.
