Captains to Rejoin 'Deadliest Catch'

Sig Hansen along with Jonathan and Andy Hillstrand announced they will return to the series

By MSN TV Oct 8, 2010 2:39PM

Andy and Jonathan HillstrandDiscovery channel announced today that Captains Sig Hansen and Jonathan and Andy Hillstrand would return for the seventh season of "Dealiest Catch."

"We're happy we worked everything out with Discovery," Hansen, who skippers the Northwestern, said in a statement. "A deal's a deal. We're heading up to Dutch Harbor to start filming the new season of 'Deadliest Catch' and hopefully it will be the best one yet." Hansen exited the series in a show of solidarity for his fellow fisherman after Andy and Johnathan Hillstrand were hit with a breach of contract lawsuit from Discovery after not completing work on a spinoff entiled "Hillstranded."

As part of the settlement, the Hillstrands will complete work on their series. "Everyone worked really hard on putting together 'Hillstranded' and we're looking forward to wrapping that up," the brothers said. "It's something new that we hope people will enjoy."

It was announced previously that the sons of the late Phil Harris, Josh and Jake, would also return for the show's seventh season aboard the Cornelia Marie. There's been no word yet on whether Keith Colburn, who captains The Wizard, will return, but with all of the show's popular skippers returning, Colburn is likely set to return as well.

So glad to hear it.  Sig Hansen was just in our area lecturing & couldn't make it!  Then to find he and the Hillstrands weren't gonna be on the show....ARRGH!  So happy news, esp. since lived their area for many, many years & know how tough a life they really lead.  Miss you Capt. Phil...look forward to seeing how the boys are doing.

Glad the Captains are coming back.Would have been a bummer without them.  Captain Phil will be watching over his boys as they continue in his footsteps.

So glad to hear!  I don't think the series would do well without them.  They are like family to us fans and it's because they don't see themselves as "stars" but working guys who risk their lives every day on the Bering Sea.  The show makes it real for those of us who only wish they had the guts to the job these guys do.   Yaaaay for them and yaaaay for us!  Welcome back!  Can't wait for next season!

I, for one, am thrilled they are coming back and hope all of the first crews will be there with them! Capt. Phil will be sorely missed but he will be there with them in the spirit of the great guy he was. Can't wait for the 7th season to air.Smile

I just hope that D.C. realizes what exactly they have going and what a full pull out from the captains would mean.  The guys and gals that work that industry aren't looking for stardom, that is their job!  Like Capt. Phil had said, it's about the families of the men that work on them boats, it isn't just 4 or 5 guys that there... its family of that one guy that made the difference to him.

I am glad that the Hillstrands and the Hansen's will be back on the air, and allowing us the opportunity to have a look into their lives!  I would love to try it out one season, just to see if I could do it, just to say I have done it, but that industry isn't forgiving.  One mistake and your livin with the fishes, and just became food for the crabs you were trying to catch.  Regardless if they were on the air or not, the captains would still be there fishing the waters and doing what they love.
